Police in Texas say a reported Biden campaign staffer “may be” at fault for the collision that occurred last week when Trump supporters were caught on video surrounding a Biden campaign bus.

the San Marcos Police Department said in a statement. “Calls to the driver of the white SUV have gone unanswered, and SMPD has not been contacted by the driver of the black truck. Since SMPD has not spoken to either driver at this time, additional investigation would be required to fully ascertain who was at fault.”
The statement comes after a video went viral showing a caravan of cars and trucks decked out in pro-Trump flags surrounding a Biden campaign bus.
Some Texas Democrats said that a Biden campaign staffer’s car was hit during the incident,
including Katie Naranjo, chair of the Travis County Democratic Party, according to KSAT.
Local police confirmed that “vehicle contact” occurred and referred those involved to contact the San Marcos Police Department.
San Marcos Police said they received a call from the Biden campaign bus requesting a police escort but were unable to meet them before they exited the highway.
The incident caused the Biden campaign to cancel three events in the state due to “safety concerns.”
“Rather than engage in productive conversation about the drastically different visions that Joe Biden and Donald Trump have for our country, Trump supporters in Texas [Friday] instead decided to put our staff, surrogates, supporters, and others in harm’s way,”
said Tariq Thowfeek, Texas communications director for the Biden campaign.
The FBI is currently investigating the situation. President Trump responded to the investigation saying the FBI should use its resources to investigate antifa instead.
“In my opinion, these patriots did nothing wrong. Instead, the FBI & Justice should be investigating the terrorists, anarchists, and agitators of ANTIFA, who run around burning down our Democrat run cities and hurting our people!” Trump tweeted.
