With mine the top banner and all the ads come up just fine it is the forum display below that takes for f'king ever to load. A word from staff sure would be reassuring that it is being looked at and a solution is in the works.

This site is virtually unusable for me. I'll check in in a few weeks to see if it's fixed.

Default Adobe Flash Player

This all probably started with an update to Adobe Flash Player.
The Adobe download site makes older versions of Flash Player available which means they know there are compatibility issues.
As stikiwikit mentioned, removing Adobe Flash Player will get Internet Explorer working.

Odds are pretty good, some of the ads on this site won't work with the most recent version of Flash Player which is why removing it 'fixes' the issue.
If Flash Player is uninstalled, this site will prompt the User to Allow the add-in 'Adobe Flash Player'. If 'Allow' is clicked, it doesn't actually do an install, just runs the Player that it wants which is probably an older version.

Probably the only real fix is for ECCIE to only allow advertisers who use recent versions of the Player, to advertise.

If you're running Firefox, the "Flashblock" addin is a great thing to have. Prevents the flash crap from running until you click on a little "play" symbol. Noscript is also good to have and does some blocking of its own.

In my previous post, I mentioned clicking 'Allow' - I'm not recommending anyone do that.
Best bet is don't use IE so you don't have to uninstall the Player.

GneissMan, thanks for the tips - good stuff.

edit: the button 'Allow' actually says 'Install'.

Never click on the "install this plugin" link. If it tells you to install flash player, close that window, then go to adobe.com and install the flash player from there.

If something tells you to install the "xyz" plugin, do some research, figure out if xyz plugin is legitimate, and then find out where you can find the legitimate xyz plugin and install it from the xyz plugin web site. Even that's risky if you're a normal human, not a computer geek.

I don't understand how any semi-normal human uses a computer these days.

Yep, Firefox works great. Posting about this issue helped.

The delay makes it almost worthless to use. I wish someone associated with the site would give us an idea of when it will be fixed.

Initially did the FIrefox thing and that worked for a few days then back to time-outs again. Put the Flashblock addon in and no help. This is really crap.
