Default Need info on verification process

Hi All,

is it really safe to provide the below details to any providers??

- Photo ID (driver's license)
- Photo of business card
- A company website link where you are clearly listed as an employee/owner/contractor etc.
- An email from your work email address (to prove that you own the email account)
- Specific instructions on how to verify you through contacting your place of work

its really tough being a newbie in this world.....

Personally, I wouldn't do it. It's your call as long as you are willing to accept the possible consequences.

Absolutely not. That is way too much personal info to be giving out.
Pass on that one for a more newbie friendly lady.

OP,
Good advise from all. You are no longer a "newbie" since you have a review under your belt.
Build upon the experience and if you plan on playing more, recommend paying for a verification site (Datecheck or P411) I have the latter and it makes hobbying much easier. Less hassles for us guys and the ladies.
Take a look at the Security Section and follow some of the rules: get a hobby phone and e-mail, do NOT use your work system to access any hobby related sites/e-mail, etc.
Also recommend BP, keep with the more established ladies - ECCIE (this site) has great ladies and senior mongers that will steer you in the right path.
Good luck!

Definitely go for P411. Datecheck has been going through some sudden and serious growing pains that they're proving pretty inept at handling on pretty much every front (especially customer care). P411 is also generally used in more places than DC. Just remember to request OKs after a good date and you'll have a good reputation in no time! Good luck on your adventures, darling.

I was in the very same boat...join p411 see a few providers willing to see newbies with p411 verification..I use p411 for all of my verification of providers..if people I know haven't seen them then the better belong to p411.. p411 insures you and they are exactly who they say they are

Ive heard of asking for a pic of drivers license especially if you are in a hotel. but everything else seems like too much

I am not a p411 member but I often wonder how long it will be until they are hacked and all of the members information is posted for the world to see. I would say it is only a matter of time.

It's a challenge starting fresh ,but be vigilant and it will come together. I have been asked that same info ,OP, and didn't provide. Not all providers ask for all that info. You just have to find a provider that screens another way. You shouldn't give any personal info that you aren't comfortable giving.

I have been away from the hobby for a few years. I was P411 before, and reactivated my P411. P411 requested info of two recently seen providers in order to reactivate my account. One down and one to go. I PM'd a provider on here and asked about her screening process. She has numerous reviews, so she seems legit. She offered to truncate her screening process (which I didn't ask her to do) if I sent her a picture of my driver's license and a business card. I don't have business cards, just a workplace ID. She said I could cover my address for privacy issues, but I don't want my full name or DOB out there. Correct me if I wrong, but a realm of anonymity is to be expected in the hobby. With my full name and DOB, google can tell you all you wanted to know about someone. I chose not to voluntarily "out" myself to a provider. I blacked out my last name, DOB, address, and what not. Sent it to her and didn't even get the courtesy of a reply from her. Did I do the right thing, or am I being too cautious.

You did the right thing. I wouldn't put my full name and d.o.b. Out there either.
