Default Anybody familiar with textplus

Hi all. Well I have been trying to figure out ways to contact providers incognito...without leaving a text record with my cell phone provider. I have played with things like google voice and find that they don't work for this purpose. Well, I came across an app for the android (and probably iphone) called textplus. Its free and looks like it will text through their system and bypass the cell phone provider. It assigns you a number as your "text from" number and looks like it works pretty well. I just tried it with a local provider. So, I'm wondering if anyone has heard about it or used it. Is it "incognito" as i am thinking? Or, does it leave some sort of record somewhere? It looks awesome but im wondering if someone has some sort of other input about it. B.

Just use google voice you can call and text from a number that is not associated with your identity.

Skylar is right but I would ask in Technical questions if it keeps records somewhere just in case , they are really helpful there.

Just buy a burn phone (prepaid; like $30 at walmart) with cash. Then every time you buy minutes, pay in cash. If you are super paranoid (like me), take the battery out when you're not using the phone. Only put the battery in to conduct provider business, then take it out. If you have an appointment, put the battery in an hour before to make sure there are no issues, and take the battery out on your way up. (Leave it in your car.)

Easy.

This is probably the best less complicated way.

regarding the burn phone. I don't want to have to carry and worry about significant others finding another working cell phone on me. It would immediatly be incriminating. This this text plus seems really easy, free, and incognito....what i want.

Do you have an office or somewhere away from home you can keep the burner? If you have no physical locations private from your SO then things are definitely going to be harder for you. In that situation I would come up with a stash spot. Also you can take the SIM card out of the phone so it won't be a working phone, then you could hide it in plain sight, ie. misc electronics/cables/etc.. junk drawer in a closet somewhere. In my house I have two of these sort of things from target stacked in a downstairs closet. They're full of cables and other junk from TVs and electronics I've purchased:

A 'dead' phone without a SIM card wouldn't be out of place in there with all the other crap. Swap in whatever working sim card you have when you need to make the call. Then hide the tiny SIM card elsewhere.

I would just go the office route though if possible.

I think skype/textplus/google voice or any other voip service that ties to your main phone would be more suspect. What happens if someone messages your RL phone from google voice when your SO has it? What happens if you leave your google voice signed in on your computer?
