the reduction of NWS and parks personnel- "may" become a factor at some point, but I'm not ready to completely roll the bus over the current administration. Alas- I'm betting that we are going to see many more events that will demonstrate their complete lack of understanding and empathy with american's throughout the country. They've almost guaranteed it with all the cuts to emergency management, parks, and other social services. You can DOGE all you want, but a lot of services in national parks are done where these folks make a pertinence of money and save many people who visit.
I'm more worried about a large scale event or national disaster- Trumps hired the most inept group of flunkies in history and they will be measured and found to come up short.
If it's gonna happen in either Florida or Texas, both of those two governors are in trumps back pocket so he'll help them out...but say it's in Tennesee or MS, MO, or KY.....you all is fucked.

looks like more TDS and fyi of the states you said would be fucked, you do realize 3 of the 4 have republican govs? and they all voted for trump? you would have been better to say shitholes like nj or cali

sorry brother, but I stand by what I wrote. they haven't kissed the ring like Fl or TX has, so those are INDEED the poor shitholes I am suggesting. TDS has nothing to do with it. If you think Noem or Duffy are killing it in their job titles, you're the one with a TdS issue. All either of them do, is verbally felate dear leader- and have zero idea about laws, or the best thing for the american people. Those are just two of the idiots he's hired. He has literally hired the most inept cabinet ever. c'mon Kennedy in charge of anything with a brain worm and prior issue with substances for decades. I'm sorry but one of us is very POORLY placing trust in the wrong ppl and it's you.

That's just it. The *idea* behind DOGE is a good one, but this is the dumbest fucking administration in U.S. history, so they haven't really cut anything that turned out to be a net positive. Gutting the NWS was a dangerous and, as we see here, deadly amount of stupidity.
As was gutting the National Parks. The National Park Service here actually turns a profit of $30+ billion for the federal government every year. They're the last thing that DOGE should be fucking with. Not only is it not "waste, fraud and abuse", the National Parks bring in tens of billions every year. And these fucking morons are destroying that.

You know, natural disasters occur everyday.
Call it Gods will, fate, whatever.
Blaming someone for the act of nature, is just fucking STUPID.
I live near a flood zone, and I Have seen certain homes flooded every few years, and every year, insurance pays for the damages, and they rebuild again.
If you build in a flood plain, which is getting harder to do, you damn well better be prepared for when it happens, 10 years, 50, 100, 1,000, eventually the odds catch up.
Why didn't they have satellite phones, expensive, yes, or NOAA weather radios?
If living is PA has taught me one thing, if you live near water, you better build far above flood plain levels.
Because year after year, they eventually learn why.
I am sure sorry though, that we didn't have pudding head Joe to blame, I'd bet the rhetoric would be 180 degrees opposite.

The response times and explanations thus far by the state and FEMA have been appalling.
No ifs, ands or buts.

all this blame Trump game is appalling

Thanks for showing how local and Coast Guard responded quickly
That helps solidify the point of the delayed response by the state and FEMA.

it disputes the point especially the State response. these out of state response teams are primarily for body recovery not first responders.

I never said they were first responders
You also missed some things, like this snippet about some or the FEMA teams.
Quote:
Three of the teams, which are typically tasked with helping local first responders to urgently find survivors, were dispatched on Tuesday, more than four days after the Guadalupe River surge that has left more than 120 dead and scores missing

Pretty appalling

and if these teams who could have immediately come on their own anyway, from out of state taking 1-2 days to arrive would have saved how many?
everyone who got caught in the initial flood is dead and not 1 million rescuers could have saved them.
what's appalling is the readiness to blame a natural disaster on Trump
