Default Your Favorite Songs That Always Remind You of Times of Your Past.

I was surfing thru the Sandbox looking for a thread on favorite songs. Found several that noted favorite songs to listen to during sex and favorite groups period but not much on what takes you places when you hear a song.

I thoroughly enjoy music. Instead of regular TV, I'll watch AXS TV when I do watch TV. Some great groups & concerts on there.

Sometimes it seems a song or a particular music group takes you certain places in your life - I know they do for me. They also kinda date ya' !

Temptations - My Girl !
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swSytFVMHuU
That's college memories plus several other Motown, Carolina Beach Music, and Classic Rock groups

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Sweet Judy Blue Eyes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVUwrifwKrI
Post college party years. Party like no tomorrow.

The Rolling Stones - Gimmie Shelter
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kl6q_9qZOs
Back up singer Lisa Fisher makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. So many concerts over the years. And they're so old, they're timeless. Several generations love 'em !

So many more:

Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child of Mine - Reminds me of strip joints.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1w7OgIMMRc4

Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven - Reminds me of stuff we don't talk about here -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IS6n2Hx9Ykk

Aerosmith - Walk This Way - Reminds me of chasing wild women
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=np0solnL1XY

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free bird - Another one that reminds me of stuff we don't talk about here & funerals for some reason..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0W1v0kOELA

Marvin Gaye - What's Goin' On - Life long memories -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-kA3UtBj4M

Adele - Rolling in The Deep - Yeah, I know ! WTF, she's got it goin' on! Reminds me of so many sweet women in my past.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYEDA3JcQqw

So many great songs that push that memory button ! Sooo many more!

OK, here are a few. Mostly these represent my High School and College days, or slightly after. In most cases I can visualize exactly what was happening in my life at the time.
(**Edit: Sorry, I screwed up a couple of the URL's. I think they're fixed now.**)

The Moody Blues – “Nights in White Satin”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqaiS-sDQyY

Simon & Garfunkel – “The Sounds of Silence” (and so many more)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fWyzwo1xg0

Neil Diamond - "Solitary Man"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ql4IiP__5ck

The Rolling Stones – “Paint It, Black”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4irXQhgMqg

Rod Stewart – “Reason to Believe”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJylcQ7CGfI

Elton John – “Your Song”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7j1uogI02A

The Who – “Pinball Wizard”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AKbUm8GrbM

Joan Baez – “Diamonds and Rust”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Gk-RZl1IAo

And this one, very recent for me although it's an old song. I'll bet not many folks on this board recognize this one!

Teresa Teng –“The Moon Represents My Heart”

I should add one more:

Neil Diamond: "Hell Yeah"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_LOZGJGkxw

This was the finale when he was in Dallas on tour in 2008. I had never heard it before but went searching for it. I played it over and over again. It gave me the courage to make a major change in direction in life.

"I hear you wondering out loud
Are you ever gonna make it?
Will you ever work it out?
Will you ever take a chance, and just believe you can?
Hell yeah you will! You’re gonna be OK.
You might get lost, but then you’ll find a way…

This one reminds me of when me and my brother were kids....he is 3years older than me and always has his friends around..and I was not crazy..so he convinced me to steal cigarettes from my parents for him and his friends. I wanted to be cool so I took a few drags myself...and hevysed to sing "I'm a joker I'm a smoker " in front of my parents just to watch me squirm. Lol

Appreciate your mention of Neil Diamond.....he's one of my fave song writers and solo performers from the 60's-70's.....

I spent part of the Summer of '72 visiting family/relatives in LA and had the golden opportunity of seeing him perform at the Greek Theatre (a small amphitheatre located in Griffith Park). Not a large venue (maybe 5 or 6 thousand seating capacity)....anyways, for me, it was an unforgetable concert.

To my surprise, later that year Diamond released a double-album with live recordings from several shows from The Greek that summer ("Hot August Night").....still one of my fave LP's in my collection of numerous vinyl albums (yep...I have the original release and it's still in pristine condition). Not that it made a "change in direction" in my own life, I just think it's kinda cool that the 18-year old version of me was in the audience for some if not all of those same recordings.....

Godsmack Awake. The entire album. Played all night during my first hobby experience.

Pantera Drag the Waters. Was playing during my first strip club experience with extras. Was there just to toast Dimebag on his birthday. The young lady I met was a big fan. The $50 I paid to have that song played was worth it.

Megadeth Tornado of Souls. Reminder of the ex. First songi ever played live with a garage band I joined after the split. You know there are still thrash metsl groupies out there?

Metallica The Unnamed Feeling. This song connects most strongly with the child in me. The one who stopped eating his vegetables at age 12.

Lastly, Black Sabbath War Pigs. No explanation needed. If you'd like to have this playing in the background while playing bcd, we just need to meet. Even if over dinner.

Default Yep.......

...........with great respect, kinda cerebral when you see someone's preference in music and how it's tied to their past.......... you immediately have this vision in your mind of what they're like everyday. Match that up with their post and Voila' !

Reverseheadstock - I think I can see you as if you're standing in front of me ! You know what you like and you like it a lot I bet.

Jury's still out on ~Ze~...but isn't it always ?
