I'm at best a casual listener but have to admire the guy for fighting on through stage 4 cancer.  Bully!

I'm not sure.  it may have sounded like that. 
He does usually take off 2 weeks from the radio show around this time.  thats his christmas/new years vacation.
I hope that is not permanent given his cancer situation.  his doctor said he'd be dead by december or something like that, he's still alive.  i suspect the medication/chemotherapy he goes thru must be keeping the cancer at bay.
I used to listen to rush until my radio broke 2 years ago and haven't found a good replacement.
