When I was a toddler crawling around the house, my Dad would call me a "potlicker". Years later when my daughter was born, upon seeing her for the first time, he called her "perch lips"...we didn't name her that though.
As far as old sayings not heard nowdays...
"Don't take any wooden nickels."
"I'll give you something to cry about"
"I'll tan your hide"..a lot of violence in the family.

"If Johnny jumped off a bridge would you jump too"
"Don't throw the baby out with the bath water"
"A little work won't kill you"
"Don't count your chickens before they're hatched"
"Every dog has his day"
"The early bird gets the worm"
"I'm gonna wash your mouth out with soap"
"Please, Thank you, Yes Ma'am, Yes sir".
and on and on...but I do like how the "golden rule" has evolved to "what goes around comes around".
