Default Travel in Thailand amid martial law

My buds and I are trying to plan a trip to Bangkok next spring and are concerned about investing front money in travel there. Anyone have recent experiences there since the coup or are currently in country and can give some good intel or forecast about the stability? Thanks.

I'm not in-country, but I've been following things closely.

Background: I usually don't pay for my trips anywhere near nine months ahead. Planning, yes, to have dates and prices in mind, but airfares vary all over the place, and hotel rates are usually not set anywhere near that far ahead. I usually plan two to three months ahead (except for the occasional special case, that has a longer lead, and the occasional emergency vacation for severe work-related stress, that gets a shorter fuse).

I haven't seen anything that would put me off right now. I'd advise keeping your options open for the next several months, three to six months at least, and not putting down any nonrefundable deposits or payments, because a lot can happen in nine months.

Thanks, Sidewinder. Also looking at Pattaya. Have you been there?

Hello from Thailand,
I have been in Thailand since 6/19. The curfew is finished. Everything is back to normal except the military is in charge. The amount of available women is increased because the amount of tourist is decreased. If you looking to come to Thailand, book your airfare about 1 to 2 months before coming. For hotel stay, use agoda.com. I can stay in 4 star hotel for $50, breakfast included. Or you can stay 2 star for $15 - $20. Pattaya is great. Check out Pattaya-addicts.com for more information.

I was in Pattaya from May 31st until June 22 and I had a blast and had no issue with martial law at all. the first 2-3 nights in Pattaya they had a curfew of midnight but I was jet lagged so it worked out perfect and I went hope with a hot 19-22 year old gogo dancer each night and had a great time. the rest of the trip was business as usual only it was easier to get a girl during weekdays due to less tourists there. on weekends people came from bangkok and it was crowded. I had zero issues with anything due to the coup and I am planning my next 2 trips now and have no fear of anything. I have been to Pattaya before this trip also and had just as much fun this trip as previous ones.

How do you figure that? Based on what?

No problems here in Thailand. The martial law has made it better for those who are here, as there are fewer men walking around and keeping the prices high.
