Default Can we all use numbers instead of dollar signs already?

I'm reading reviews and it's so confusing. One person has $4 meaning $140, but many read that as either $4 or $400. Another has $60 meaning $60, but someone thinks he means $160. Another has $.30 and someone thinks it's $30 but it's supposed to be $130.

Are we worried about the legality of dollar amounts? Here's my theory...if you don't put a dollar sign, it doesn't make it money. For example, if you put "300" for "fee", that's legally not $300. It's just a number with no dollar sign. 300 could reresent anything. However, if you try to use a code, and put $.3, then you legally are saying $0.30 which is a dollar amount.

Before I wrote my first review I always assumed each $ is 100 and .4 would mean a multiple of 10 like .4 would be 40

This is correct. Unfortunately, some people don't know how to do it correctly which always results in confusion.

Just use real numbers, dammit!

Every time I've seen that (which is most of the time), there is a decimal point after the dollar sign and before the numeral, which tells you it is not 4 dollars, but rather $140 (to use your example). I've never seen it without the decimal point. I hope that clears it up for you.
