The Texas Longhorn Logo
I have always Been fascinated by football Trivia and I thought you might be interested in this bit of trivia as well.
Where did the Texas longhorn logo idea come from?
I did not know this!

Bevo longhorn Mascot !!
Always been a longhorn.

cant remember the year. Texas AM beat the Longhorns in Football 1 3 - 0
Well the Aggies ( Tex AM ) branded the steer 1 3 - 0
In return the Longhorn student body covered the Brand to say
B E V 0 thus the name of the steer became " BEV0 " from that point forward.
look close at BEVO name you will see the 1 3 - 0

the story branding 13-0 victory of A&M over UT onto the Longhorn steer becoming the reason his name was changed from Varsity to Bevo is a good one but not true. The name Bevo was being used before the game, and long before the branding, WWI delayed that event. The pop culture of that time tended to put an "O" onto the end of nicknames. ie Harpo, Daddio, Graucho. The other term for cattle is beef, and the plural beeves. That was bastardized into Bevo. The UT student newspaper from that era was using the term Bevo prior to the game, thus making the branding story, and urban myth.
