Default Sex. Addiction . . . really?

I see where CBS is exploring the idea of sex and love addiction.

Any place for serious consideration, not just flaming?

Like the old joke about alcoholics...

we're not sex addicts, we don't go to meetings.

Rogue, I'm a little concerned. You thinkin' about hanging up you're...um er...hobby phone! (that's the ticket).

I don't know if the market can take another hit like that!

(Rhetorical question)

Around here, are you surprised? According to those websites, EVERYONE here should be attending meetings. We're all in denial, bro!

You are generous in your estimation and concern.
I need to take a step back at least for a while.
It is consuming too much of my time and energies, and I need another winning lottery ticket to keep up January's pace.

I may drop off the radar for a while.

Will you take up the slack?

Best regards,

rr

And denial is not just a river in Egypt.
For me it has been kind of like smoking. I recall when my uncles told me they would quit when cig's reached 4 bits a pack, then a buck, . . . and so it went. One quit. The other did not, and we buried him in July sas he died of leukemia that was discovered the week before Mother's Day.

I met Patrick Carnes about 11 years ago, at the Meadows in Wickenburg AZ.
Until this morning's CBS interview, I had forgotten the depth of that week's workshop experience.
As I saw his interview this morning, I came to see myself in a new light, or in the light of reality. The addictions differ. What every 'drug of choice' does to the soul is very similar; ensnaring, complicating, . . .

It may be fun for some.
It no longer is for me. It is something else entirely.
As LAP has told me, if it is not fun, find another hobby.
Might be time for me to do just that very thing.
Won't be the first time I have 'retired'.
I hope it is the last.

Best regards to all,

rr

EVERYONE is a generalization, and is rarely true whenever it is applied.

Each person has to face the truth, whatever that means to him.

That is not likely to most of us on this board. But how many of us look back and see events and their consequences we wish we had prevented, and could have had we made different choices about sex and relationships?
I cannot speak for others, . . .

This is as close to rock bottom as I want to see, again . . .

Best regards.

rr,

Sorry for my joke. I was glancing at one of the websites and it mentioned that if you see prostitutes, you should consider their services, so I was referring to that. Of course, I wish you the best and that you find balance and contentment in your life. If that means dismissing the hobby, then so be it. Your presence will be missed on here, I'm sure.

Best of luck.

If they don't call it an addiction, nobody will seek treatment and willing to pay for it.
Ask any wife. It is only an addiction outside the house.

Yeah, $15,000 for rehab...that'll sober you up right there...$15,000 Pfffft!

The way I see it is...if I can come-up with $15,000, I don't have a problem yet.

But, it is a real problem for some people and I truly hope they get the help that they need.

Eh… beats getting into a 12 step program to get over 12 step programs.

I goto meetings all the time, but when I get there the provider...I mean counselor charges me $250 an hour, and I always leave thinking that wow that was a great session, I think I will quit...but I always get over that, usually about 15 minutes later, after the blood in my body starts to recirculate.
