question about amp vs provider

I have a question I am thinking of taking the plung and am wondering the pros and cons of an amp to a provider I am thinking about doing this in a few weeks and am not sure which to try. So I am hoping you all could help me make my choise. Thanks to all in advance. And if this the wrong place for this please feel free to move to where it needs to go.

i dont know all the pros cons...but if you consier this your way of taking the plunge,
keep in mind that a lot of indy's wont accept an agency/or amp review as a reference.

AMP's are nice if you are looking for a "quick fix", but providers bring so much more!

thank you so far for you replys I am just not sure which is best I would like an indy not a angecy, just trying to get a feel from all here to base my decision on.

Now a days an Amp can cost as much as a provider..so I would choose a newbie friendly provider.

I have tried looking in the provider showcase but there seems to be but afew that say if there newbi friendly.And from what I have read amps can upsell and I do not want to over extend myself you know.
