A California man is accused of murdering his adult son earlier this week because he was gay – following multiple previous threats – the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said Friday.
Shehada Khalil Issa, 69, is held without bond facing one charge of "willful, deliberate and premeditated murder," the DA's office said in a press release obtained by PEOPLE.
Issa's arraignment was continued until April 11, according to the release. It was not immediately clear if he had entered a plea to the murder charge or had retained an attorney.
Issa allegedly shot his 29-year-old son, Amir Issa, with a shotgun outside the family's home in Los Angeles because of Amir's sexual orientation, the DA's office said in the release.
Shehada had previously threatened to kill Amir because he was gay, prosecutors alleged in the release.
Police first responded to 911 calls at the home on Tuesday, according to the release.
Amir's body was found outside the home and his unidentified mother's body was found inside the home, according to the release.
The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department. Police continue to investigate the mother's death.
The DA's office did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.
An LAPD spokeswoman said any information into the investigation of the death of Shehada's wife would not be available until at least Monday.
