Default Who is the greatest one hit wonder band?

The best song ever without a follow up hit are the rules. You can agree with a member selection but you have to provide a new song as well. My first selection is the God of one hit wonders.

My selection - Dexy's Midnight Runner - Come On Eileen

Best band or best song? This one sent me to google searching. Quite a few on the list to like, but hard to pick one that stands out as most outstanding. My pick(s):
"I've Never Been to Me" - Charlene (best song)
"In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" - Iron Butterfly (best band)

Great pics Wordsmith. But I like two different Soft Cell songs. Just cannot remember the other one. The Iron Butterfly is a great pic as well and a 20 minute song,

"D.O.A." by Bloodrock for a one-hit wonder.

TexasT for a one-shot wonder.

It's a tie:

Billy Don't Be a Hero - Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods (1974)
The Night Chicago Died - Paper Lace (1974)

Actually, the 70's downright owned the one hit wonder phenomenon (IMHO); Rock the Boat was a 1974 hit

On second thought...
A bit of a stretch here since the band members obviously had careers before/after, and I'm not exactly sure of the timing of the band's breakup vs when the song became a hit, but I might argue for "Layla" by Derek and the Dominos.

Concur!

Bobby Whitlock (co-writer), plays that song in a little hole in the wall in Austin all of the time. Good stuff.

Tommy Two-Tone? 8 6 7 5 3 0 9

Can't think of the band, but the song (or its meaning) fits here..." I think I'm turning Japanese"
