Artsy-fartsy Goings On This Weekend

There are two cultural events going on this weekend here in the DFW area that you can spend as much time and as little of your hard earned green on, or vice-versa. It's going to be beautiful weather for both of these, so get the lead out and go get yourself some of that-there kultur.

1. Fort Worth Main Street Art Fair - Thursday, 4/14/11 10am through Sunday 4/17/11 6pm. Hundreds of booths having anything from prints and drawings to jewelry in all sorts of price ranges. Free music most of the day on 3 - 4 stages up to the 11pm closing on Thur, Fri and Sat. The only draw back is having to buy those freakin' tickets for refreshments and food like at the State Fair. Google or Bing "Fort Worth Main Street Arts Festival" for more information. I've been going to this for the last 6 or 7 years and it's a great time.

2. Dallas Art Dealers Association (DADA) Annual Spring Gallery Walk, April 16, 2011, 2pm-8pm. Over 34 galleries, museums and art spaces will be open for free (unless you buy something...lol). Best done by car AND on foot since it is spread out over an area from Market Center Blvd. to McKinney Ave. Google or Bing "Dallas Art Dealers Association" for more info.

Sure, it's not the NBA Finals, the Super Bowl or the World Series, but the weather will be nice and there will be thousands of people to watch, especially for us horndogs - the ladies will be testing those comfortable spring casual outfits...lol!

Southlake has their artsy-fartsy thing this weekend too.

And for those of you who prefer a more manly event, the air show is this weekend at the joint reserve base in FW.

No reason for anyone to stay indoors on a great weekend.

OK, maybe there are a few ladies here who might suggest some reasons to stay indoors, but I sure wouldn't mind seeing Autumn indoors or outdoors.

Also Pecan Plantation ,near Granbury, is having their Semi-annual garage sale this Saturday .....Open to anyone that cares to drive thru the gates.....the GATES are open ..........just tell guards you are here for the Garage Sale ..Usually a very well attended event ......very nice crowds ......and great buys for everyone.....

YAY! The big blow last night missed downtown FTW so the outdoor booths and their contents didn't wind up in Arkansas.
