The "Russian" noise was (and still is) a "flash bang" for the anti-Trumpers! The Republicans got sucked in with the "National Security" interest ploy so they would be criticized as not being "strong enough on "National Security" if they didn't go along with an "investigation"!

The result of "Identity Politics"! The allowed themselves to be "painted."

But it was "easy," because so many of them didn't want Trump in the first place. They still don't, they are just having to go along with the Trump Program, because they want to get re-elected.
