well, i gotta be honest here: I DONT CARE!! AND I DOUBT MANY PEOPLE DO!! lol but seriously... i see sooo many guys always trying to correct other people whenever theyre commenting or replying to a post.. like, blasting other people's OBVIOUS typing errors. being sarcastic and basically trying to steal the spotlight and make somebody look stupid. i'm not being bitter and im not angry about anything at all.... no bad experiences, and no one has said anything on any thread I'VE posted on.. but i've just seen it way too many times.. some of these gents need to slow their horses.... this is ECCIE... not a freakin published web blog or award winning website or article you're going to get credit for. i had to get this off my chest because it's amusing and irritating to see at the same time.... maybe somebody can side with me and see where i'm coming from or share a comment or two.. :P

I also laugh and get irritated at the same time. I think it depends on the way the antagonist words it. Sometimes it is funny and other times it just gets old. Especially when more than one person comments on the same mistakes.

It usually only bothers me when the author butchers the language so bad that it is hard to translate the meaning.

I will add that I don't like when people use a bunch of text message shortcuts. A few are ok, like lol, OMG, and others. But when most of the post looks like two 12 year olds texting each other, it is annoying.

I'm one of those guys who cares about spelling and grammar. With me, it's never about a personal attack, it's about bigger issues with the system. I apologize to anyone who has felt otherwise.

I spend a lot of time in China. It pisses me off that China graduates students that are more proficient in English spelling and grammar than many on this site. We need less focus in our schools on useless shit like Texas history and more focus on the basics if we want to maintain our standard of living. Period. We can't survive as a nation of dummies. The state government needs a kick in the butt.

I don't like it when I see teen or ghetto culture (of any variety) dumbing-down how we communicate. This can be punctuation-less text messaging or anything else. I'm with Bill Cosby on this one.

Spelling and grammar matters, like it or not. It doesn't matter what the context is, it's always important. Who wants to be perceived as 'challenged' in any context?

Properly spelling a word is not at all difficult, especially with online dictionaries that will take your incorrectly entered word and give you options for a correct spelling. http://www.onelook.com/

Spellcheck is ok if you know what you really want but, as an example, two commonly MISUSED words loose (as in the dog is loose) and lose (as in misplace or the opposite of win) are spelled correctly. Spellcheck doesn't check for context.

Just to totally monkey wrench matters consider this sentence........They're going over there to take care of their business.

I don't have huge issues with it on message boards, but at work, I'm a bit of an english nazi. Balls will be busted if you send me something that looks like its written by a five year old there.

On message boards though, the only one that kills me is my personal pet peeve: using "loose" instead of "lose". You can lose a soccer match, but you can't loose it. At no point in time will the match untighten and fall off of you.

Ahh.. even just typing it right there.. I see a small amount of road rage in my future. Maybe a quarter of a mile's worth? Should be fun.

If you want to be perceived as more than an illiterate young lady with big tits and no gag reflex, then you should make an attempt to communicate intelligently. It's not so important here as it will be in the real world. I'm not trying to sound righteous, but I do think it will be helpful later in life. I mean this with no disrespect.

yes u are indeed an old fart and u highly irritated me. umm.. i really dont think anyone perceives me as ILLITERATE. as a matter of fact, im college educated and im a great writer. im not on here writing a fuckin college paper, so get the fuck over it. and i didnt spell "hobbyist" right.. i shouldve known someone like the guys i described in my post would come forward and be an asshole like that. and what exactly are u searching for?? i have big tits and no gag reflex but im definetly not unattractive like some of these girls i see on BP and eccie... like come on dude, i graduated from high school with a 3.5 gpa with HONORS and french, spanish, and german under my belt.. not bad at all.. and got accepted on a scholarship. if i HAD to and if it was NECESSARY i could proof read and fix every damn post on this forum. ive won writing contests since i was in elementary school, and anyone whos ever had a conversation with me can tell u that im highly intelligent. and as far as mispelling and the occasional typo.... well i type over 80 wpm (thats words per minute) and sometimes i dont feel like correcting myself.. like i said this is a FORUM. no one should have a freakin cow and be a dam n asshole over a mispelled word.... ESPECIALLY if they know the girl or guy ISNT stupid and KNOWS how to spell and speak correctly. I JUST HAD TO SAY THAT!!! UGHHH!!
