Default Am I Mean to Say I'm Bored of The Surfside Tributes?

CNN is running one now, an 87 year old couple. All these people getting tributes. Sorry they died tragically, but they were normal people caught in an unfortunate building collapse. Earlier today it was a 92 year old woman, my instinct was to bark that she cheated the Reaper out of 20 years!

Try reading the Miami Herald every morning. I have sympathy for such tragedies but I don't need the life story of every single person that died and everybody that knew them.

And guess what the prevailing theory is being pushed by Democrats? Climate Change did it!

seriously? i mean .. i'm not surprised by that but what exactly are they claiming? climate change caused the builders to construct a substandard building?

haven't read much on it but what i did read claimed that the building had constant water/flooding issues that certainly would degrade the foundation. probably the real cause wasn't bad construction but the fact they built it on reclaimed swamp land.

Wonder if they'd let me bring my pick-up and get some free gravel?
Too soon?

This isn't an exact quote but close enough, "you know the sea level has risen a couple of inches"! I swear to God, that is what some energy lady in the Biden administration said.

Now, a probable contributor was "sea air and salt water" but I'm pretty sure that existed long before the climate started to change, as they put it. So yeah, climate most likely played a role but "Climate Change"? Uh, no.

“We’re in a highly aggressive environment, where salty ocean air and rain can affect concrete that’s not properly protected,” says Pistorino, a 54-year engineering veteran. He likens salt to “a cancer,” especially if it gets into cantilevered balconies found on many high-rises, or in garages where columns interact with floor slabs and pile caps.

I have no doubt that as close as they will get to a determining factor, will be poor planning in that water pooled where it shouldn't have, some degree of poor construction and material and environmental conditions meaning salt. I don't see them coming up with an AH! HA! determination but climate change? Uh, no.

You would have to be familiar with the area to understand the whole "Condo dynamic" going on here in South Florida. Condo construction is probably at it's highest level since the first round of condo's started in the 70's and this will in all likelihood, slow down the condo boom but only for a short time because there are so many new condo's going up.

I particularly like the ones where you drive your car into an elevator and your car is taken up to your condo.

Penthouse for your Porsche: This luxe Miami high-rise comes with a car elevator so you can drive right into your living room

A new skyscraper in the Miami skyline is a Porsche lover’s nirvana. It’s called the Porsche Design Tower and every inch of this Sunny Isles Beach high-rise is inspired by the sleek German sports car. It’s even been described as a Porsche piston rising from the shoreline.
But the Porsche Design Tower also has a special feature — residents can drive their cars right into their apartments.

Luxury hits overdrive in the tower’s units, the cheapest of which goes for $6 million.

In addition to the garages, each residence has its own balcony equipped with a private pool where you can soak in epic views of the Atlantic.

But the crowned jewel of the Porsche Design Tower is its four-story penthouse that will lift you and your car to new heights for a cool $32.5 million. A quick ride in the Dezervator delivers your wheels to the top floor mega-apartment where you can then roll them right into your living room.
Says Dezer: “If you’re an art collector, you put art on the wall. So why not put the car in your living room?”

Believe it or not, it is a fact that salt air will destroy a car over time.

I have a very low emotional bank account.

I do find it strange that everytime there's a mudslide that wipes out thousands of homes in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Haiti and any other areas America comes to the rescue. I don't see any of those countries asking if we need help.

How would they help? They are much poorer than we are, and their people are far less educated than we are.

Do you actually know that they don't offer to help, or are you just guessing?
