Default Dave Parker has passed.

One of my favorite Pirates. He could do everything on a baseball field. Damn shame he didn’t make to his HOF induction. He should have been in years ago.

Supposedly died from the effects of being hit with "D" batteries back in his playing days.

I remember it occurring, I don't remember what he did to piss off the fans, but, I agree, a great player.

We'll never see another at this rate.

When I first signed with the Pirates, I signed on as a catcher. I had a technique of throwing the ball, but it was a catcher’s throw, not an outfielder’s throw.
Roberto Clemente first made me aware of the difference. "You can get a lot more on that throw if you stretch your arm out."
Clemente showed me how to throw the ball from the outfield, showed me how to properly grip the ball before throwing it, and how you grab the ball out of your glove with that same grip each time.
My mother had a cannon for an arm. My dad never got to play organized ball. But he’d crush that ball. And dad could run like a scalded rabbit. He beat me in a footrace one day after work, in his work boots, carrying his lunch bucket."
Dave Parker
Go easy.

It has been said by many that Dave Parker ran hard to first base. Not exactly true. Actually, he sprinted to first base like he was running the finals of the Olympics 30-yard dash. Present-day players should watch his tapes. They could learn a lot about playing hard. #Pirates

Nah, he was born in Mississippi and grew up in Cincinnati.
And had a far bigger package than you.
