So I gave her a try. She wanted all the verification: provider references, a clear selfie, a pic of my photo ID with the important stuff covered of course and verification of employment. She also wanted a deposit. I've taken my chances on deposits and it's worked out for me so no big deal.
Anyway, I gave her two provider references and all of the other verifications. She said she was still waiting on one of the providers to respond but we still agreed on a day and time. She didn't give me anywhere to send the deposit so I just figured she didn't need it because of the thorough verification process.
Fast forward to the day and time and still no word a couple hours before the time. I reach out and she says she didn't realize the message never sent about never hearing from the one reference and there was no deposit so she couldn't meet today, but maybe another day we could. I politely declined.

Well... fuck that noise. She probably doesn't look like the pics anyway.
I really don't understand the verification of employment part. Like, what good could that possibly do them? All they should be concerned with is that you have the money. I will NEVER give a provider that info.

Well, the overt reason - the one they'll actually admit to - is that they want verifiable employment information to make sure that you are not employed in certain professions that they don't want to see... You can use your imagination as to what those professions would be...

Thanks for the explanation, laserface. You just reinforced the reasoning to never give RL info to these bitches (imo).

Never give personal information
I am a long time user of this site but closed my account a few months ago but still look at it now and then. I saw this thread and signed up again under a new name so I can explain what happened to me in this situation.
In my early days of the hobby I was stupid and revealed all kinds personal and employment info to an escort I really wanted to see. Of course when it was appointment time she ghosted me. About 2 weeks later I got an email from someone claiming to be a lawyer that for 5k he could get me off this cheaters website that listed all the info I gave to the escort. He provided the link and there I was along with probably 20 other guys with tons of personal and employment info that was all specific and correct for all guys that were seeing her.
A co workers wife happened to search my name so she could find my home address to send a Christmas card, that website is the first thing that popped up. She told her husband and he approached me about it.
Very fortunately about a month earlier, and I believe unrelated to the escorts’s cheaters website, I received an email from LinkedIn that my account was hacked and all my personal and employment info that was buried deeper in the site was stolen.
I was able to use that email to clear myself. So for the next two years when I googled my name that cheaters site kept popping up then one day it was gone.
Don’t reveal anything no matter how hot she looks!!

I don’t recall now as it was 10 years ago and it was active for 2 years before it disappeared. It was a dark time for me and I was happy to forget about it when it went away. When I saw the post from Svalley however I felt compelled to warn others about what happened to me.
I had applied for a new job during that time and I guess employers search you on the internet and I was questioned about it during the interview. Fortunately I was prepared and had LinkedIn’s email as well as the blackmail emails from the fake lawyer, I got the job though.
Reveal nothing!

Remember that sites like linked in are a treasure trove for scammers, they can break most accounts just by looking at your profile and filling in password recovery answers.

In my case the website was specific to the escort that I gave the info to, she was pictured along with all the guys she claimed were seeing her. The LinkedIn breech was just a bonus for me as it provided an alibi.
I say away from pretty much everything now.
