Default Hegseth skips Ukraine meeting at Nato headquarters.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will not attend a Wednesday meeting of 50 defense ministers at NATO headquarters in Brussels that has been critical to coordinating military aid for Ukraine, marking the first time in three years a Pentagon chief has skipped the event.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has ordered the secretary of the Navy to rename the oiler ship USNS Harvey Milk, according to a defense official.

The ship, which was launched in 2021 and named after the gay rights activist and Navy veteran, who was made to resign from the force because of his sexual orientation, is set to be officially renamed later this month, the official said. It is not clear what the new name will be, but the timing is notable given that June is Pride Month.

Glad to know where the attention of our Secretary of Defense is at. Screw the people dying in Ukraine it’s much more important to keep the homo’s out of the navy.

Ukraine is an ally, Russia is an invading force so it is political. But Petey opted out because Signal doesn't work at the NATO HQ so he couldn't update his wife and friends in real time.

Uhhh, he's the freaking SecDef, Salty. This thread is about the actions of the SecDef on behalf of the people of the United States.

This is sandbox material WHY?

Do you have an opinion on this loser or just trying to get this discussion out of this forum.

The Trump regime's treatment of our allies is deplorable. Now he wants to wash his hands of the whole Russia-Ukraine affair and walk away. And his flunky's failure to represent us on that important world stage is just plain embarrassing.

nonsense. Milk's Navy career was not impressive enough to rate naming a ship after him.

when exactly did Ukraine become an ally? after the USSR Fell? what treaties as allies were signed? they may be an ally now with Trump's mineral deal but before they were just a corrupt former little brother of the USSR. and that's what they still are today.

Priorities, sir!

It is mission critical to quickly rename a Navy ship from a symbol of an advanced society, rather than meet with strategic military leaders of the world to save humanity.

Sir.

I’m saying that Hegseth’s infatuation on anti-woke politics like renaming military bases and naval vessels appears to be the only thing he’s concerned about.

Maybe he should be more concerned with dealing with his NATO and foreign affairs rather than dealing with renaming a vessel because it was named after a civil rights leader.

This anti-woke bullshit that Trump and MAGA is, in my honest opinion, un American.

Define "American" first then all these other questions will be easily answered.

Likely none. The US is a different "L" of NATO now...used to be leader, now it's laughingstock.
