Amp shakedowns
Has anyone gotten caught up in one? Are they arresting the girls the guys, or both? If they're arresting guys what's the charge?
Hoping of course to never have an issue, but trying to understand the threat landscape.

I think the old SOP is still in effect when it comes to what to expect in an AMP raid. Unless you are extremely unlucky and they have hard evidence you are there for p4p (like you breaking down and confessing under questioning) they will be hard pressed to get you on a soliciting charge.
They will check for warrants, so don’t risk it if you have any outstanding. Just be polite, don’t offer up anything, and ask to leave once they have checked you out. Also, don’t bring in your phone; I go so far as to only communicate through web-based sites that I can swiftly eliminate just by closing out my browser while in private mode, then leave it in the car.
Edit to add: There is increased risk, however, that you could get caught up in one of these visits, as cities have more resources (including state assistance from the TDLR) to carry out “inspections”.

Thanks TinMan! I don't have anything on my phone that wasn't in a private browser anyway - but they can't force me to unlock my phone, right?

tell them to get a warrant to force you to give up anything that is not in plain view. and remember, no matter what they say, tell them you will not be answering any questions without your attorney present and STFU.

I don't get it, if I show up to get a massage, how could LE possibly charge me or even attempt to? Speaking for myself, I would never partake in anything extra, and to imply such would be ridiculous.

where it gets dicey as well is when the "therapist" asks or motions about "extras" then ask you to pay before delivering. I've walked out at that moment several times even though they were far far from being suspicious of some sort of undercover/sting. Nonetheless, Rather have the "extras" performed then "tip"

You only have to identify yourself to police. Otherwise, remain calm and shut the fuck up. Don't answer any questions. Don't let them scare you into confessing. They cannot charge you unless they have evidence, and admitting that you were there to pay for sex is all the evidence they need to charge you with a felony.

Point of fact, you don't even have to identify yourself unless and until you have been lawfully arrested. Detained or under investigation doesn't matter. Texas Penal Code 38.02 makes it crystal clear that you are only required to identify yourself once they arrest you and not a moment sooner. Once they arrest you, you are required to give them your name, date of birth and address and nothing more. Imagine it like you are a prisoner of war. Name, Rank and Serial Number. Nothing else. Once you have provided that, ask for an attorney and don't say another word.
It was said earlier, buy they can't prove Jack shit without you spilling your guts, and if they could, they don't need you to spill your guts. The very worst thing you can do is to say anything, because they will find some kind of way to use it against you. They will twist it, misrepresent it, catch you in a lie, whatever. If you just shut the fuck up and stay silent, they have nothing to prove yiu did anything wrong.
