Default Tylenol link to Autism

Kind of thought someone would maybe comment on this by now, but I guess not.

Definitely need to study it more, but it appears it could be a contributing factor.

I agree that some over the counter medications can be linked to all kinds of medical conditions. I have no problem putting more effort into studying the effects of OTC medications on both pregnancy related outcomes and long term usage effects.

I think that too many people have been told that OTC medications have no real side effects and don’t see a problem taking large doses over long periods of time.

I think a better approach would be to start a media campaign that tries to promote less OTC consumption in the first place.

I was a kid in the 1960s when I read an article in Life Magazine about this rare condition that made someone's Chile so strange. And it was so rare that most adults had never heard of it.

Now it is co common, that everyone has a child with it or kn own someone else with an autistic Chile or relative. Something in our society is the cause, and it may be as simple as the heavy use of Tylan ol.

The same thing is true for Peanut Allergy. In the 1970s, South West Airlines branded their operation as so cheap you could fly for Peanuts. . . .and giver out Peanuts as a snack. Today, this potentially deadly food allergy is so common that peanuts cannot be found in snacks on planes and are forbidden in schools.

If the solution is as simple as irradiating peanuts from our food chain we will be fortunate.

I am agnostic on both Tynalol and Penuts, but hope the root causes are found and validated.

I think the biggest issue with OTC medications is dosage. They usually only do age changes when in reality it should be based on weight. I know that is the veterinary drugs are prescribed.

Also, it is impossible to check for all side effects of different drug interactions.

Trump and RFKjr had to do something to keep the Federal Government and pharmaceutical companies from going broke.

It's estimated that over 25 billion doses of acetaminophen are sold in the U.S. each year.

At around $7 for a bottle of 100, Trump's 1500% drug price reductions will result in payment of about $98/bottle to Tylenol buyers, resulting in a total outlay of some $24.5 Billion dollars to Tylenol buyers

Same thing with vaccines...they're even more expensive than Tylenol.
Heck, one RSV vaccine costs about $16 and some 4.6 million per year are administered.

Meanwhile, how about that measles outbreak in Utah and Arizona?

After the one Texas/New Mexico experienced earlier this year.

The good news. TX governor Abbott has signed a measure making Ivermectin and over the counter medicine.
No prescription required.

State Sen. Bob Hall, R-Edgewood
“It’s been approved as a safe drug. for humans. It has a better safety record than Tylenol.”

This is all part of RFK Jr. trying to make a buck for himself and his lawyer buddies who sue drug companies. Publishing shady research, pulling vaccine recommendations, removing limits on liability, it’s all in a day’s work.

Trump made a deal with the devil when he agreed to appoint RFK Jr head of HHS in return for his political support. Hopefully he’ll come to his senses and fire him.

Should a pregnant woman with a high fever avoid Tylenol? I seriously doubt it. As I understand it, the research doesn’t show cause and effect, only a correlation. And because professionals have chosen to increasingly diagnose people with autism, and because people are increasingly taking Tylenol, there’s probably a noncausal relationship. I won’t be reading up on it because I won’t be getting pregnant.

And no RX, this is not some kind of gift to drug companies. Tylenol won’t be jerked from the OTC market. It’s the opposite. The plaintiffs’ lawyers, who have Democrats in their pockets (and Kennedy because he’s one of their own) with their massive campaign contributions, will now try to sue Kenvue, a Johnson & Johnson spinoff out of existence. Thank goodness J&J’s not liable any longer. At least it won’t be sued out of existence, unless the bastards find out a way to take it under because it was the manufacturer until 2023.

RFK Jr has no problem undoing one of Trump’s greatest legacies, Operation Warp Speed, and seeing people die, all for the sake of the almighty dollar.
... Emmm... I don't see it that-way, mate.

I believe this effort by the Kennedy bloke is sincere.

And I also agree with Farmer and Tx-Dot that the
Tylenol link is possible and MORE study needs to be done.

There's a rumor and I don't know if it's so or not—that Cuba, they don't have tylenol because they don't have the money for tylenol, and they have virtually no autism

Brand-name Tylenol (acetaminophen) is not available in Cuba due to the U.S. trade embargo.

Community note on X
"Cuba had an autism rate of 83.30 per 10,000 children in 2023, according to data from the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network. The US rate was 80.90, the same data shows."

No problem with further study Salty. The problem is RFK Jr is a fox in the henhouse. He’s been a Democrat and member of the Plaintiffs’ bar, perhaps the biggest contributor to the Democratic Party. The plaintiffs’ lawyers channel money out of productive American businesses and into their own pockets. They bankrupt companies and destroy jobs. And now the drug companies and the vaccine makers are in their sights

Defending big pharma is wild, absolutely wild. With all the data proving harm by both the COVID vacine and large swaths of drugs, your position is now to defend the helpless big pharma?

Did autism exist before 1950? That might might give a clue as to why this is stupid.

Not anywhere near the extent it does now. Same goes for a lot of other things like allergies, asthma, etc. There was one fat kid when I was in school, and she was harassed mercilessly. Now every other kid is a fat slob. There’s a lot of crazy shit going on with kids nowadays, at least someone is attempting to do something about it.

Regardless, if this is helpful I don’t see a problem with letting people know that studies have shown a link and advising pregnant women to at least minimize their use. Like sand247 said above, defending pharmaceutical companies who have no interest AT ALL in people actually being healthy is pretty weird. You see these commercials, it’s like they make up ailments to cure . “Does your pinky finger only bend halfway on Thursdays between 7 and 9 am? Eat this pill for $4000/month and you’ll be cured.” This country is totally over medicated yet still unhealthy. 90% of the shit people are ‘afflicted’ with could be cured by putting down the cell phone and taking a walk.
