NFL Political Firestorm Over Male Cheerleaders
For the 2025-2026 NFL season it seems the NFL has some major changes. Is the NFL creating a political firestorm by replacing female cheerleaders with male cheerleaders? I hear that the LA Rams will have 9 or 10 male cheerleaders on the dance squad out doing their neighbors by the bay, the San Francisco 49er's.
"The male cheerleaders have quickly prompted backlash online from MAGA and conservatives."
"MLFootball, an account on X which shares news about football, shared a post on X which reads in part, "12 #NFL TEAMS WILL REPORTEDLY HAVE MALE CHEERLEADERS ON THEIR CHEERLEADING SQUAD THIS SEASON" and lists the teams as the Vikings, Ravens, Rams, Saints, Eagles, 49ers, Patriots, Titans, Colts, Chiefs, Buccaneers and Panthers."

Sports isn't everyones cup of tea but the NFL is the most watched sports league in America, the NFL is the king. Replacing female cheerleaders with males may possibly test the NFL's status in America driving a deeper wedge between fans and the league.

I am ambivalent about it.
Of course, I am old enough to remember when the concept of the “modern” NFL cheerleader was invented. We knew then what it was all about. Really good looking young women in sexy outfits dancing on the side line and putting on some type of dance routine at half time.
These women worked darned hard to make these squads. Literally few were chosen out of the thousands that tried out every new season.
Aside from the bouncing tits, men can do anything the women can do. Maybe even better.

I see this as the Left's continuation of the war on women. If they can't steal women's records in college sports because colleges are bending the knee to Trump for federal funding they'll take their jobs in pro sports instead.
The 2026 NFL season is for the "modern audience." Meaning 2% whereas 50% of the 2% don't watch NFL so that leaves just 1%. Letting young gay men take what has traditionally been a woman's job in the NFL is a conundrum to say the least. What until an NFL team hires the first transgendered cheerleader. That's where I think this is going.

I heard a lot of them are hunky Chippendales Dancers!
The NFL is trying to expand its fan base.
They're trying to appeal to the sexually-frustrated, MILF, horny-housewife demographic!

... Iceman has it correct... They got male cheer leaders there
on the sidelines at University American football.
They toss the lovvys into the air and catch them and what-not.
... Let's wait and see the actual visual effects of this
and see HOW or IF it differs from college ball.

It would seem to be appropriate for the Dallas Cowgirls.

... Have seen enough to surely venture a better opinion.
And it has changed... I do agree-with Budman and Levi that this
rather odd decision is courting potential DISASTER.
Ridicule and disfavour coming soon! ...

I watch the NFL religiously. The only people who give a shit about this are those who don't even care about the actual games being played. Or maybe someone can tell me that they know someone who spends 3 hours watching a football game just so they can maybe see 3 seconds on occasion of the camera pointed at cheerleaders right before commercial breaks.
I watch a lot (too much) of college football as well that does have male cheerleaders representing their universities on their cheer squad... see above to avoid repetitiveness.
Just another big deal about nothing. Gotta problem with it, don't watch it. The NFL is a finely tuned well-oiled machine. They won't miss you or anyone else who does have a problem with it. LOL

Male cheerleaders have been a part of the football scene at some high schools and colleges for many years. Texas A7M has famously had all make cheers squads since forever.
What I have seen with co-ed cheer squads is that the guys are there to lift and spot the girls as they do pyramids and its.
Doesn't quite look like that is what the NFL has in mind though.
Anyone want another Bud Lite . . . .

The male members of Cheer Squads in College Football don’t get out on the field and shake their asses.
