Happy Birthday, President Jefferson
Today marks the 269th birthday of Thomas Jefferson, one of the most well-known founding fathers and the principal author of the Declaration of Independence.
"Jefferson set a new, individualist standard for virtue. The old standard, deriving from ancient Greece and Rome, was that virtue depended on one’s role as a citizen — voting, running for office, doing public things. Although Jefferson enjoyed a distinguished public career, he had an entirely different idea: that what counted most was the way individuals conducted their private lives, their contribution to civil society rather than politics."
Dreadfully sorry for what we've done to your country.

Jefferson was amazing. He was truly a renaisance man. He wrote a revised edition of the Bible taking out the parts he didn't like. If you haven't seen the HBO series on John Adams I highly recommend it. It details the friendship of Adams and Jefferson. They corresponded for many years after they were out of public life and became good friends because of the letter writing. They had been more or less enemies prior to that. Adams and Jefferson both died on the fourth of July 1826, on the fiftieth aniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. John Adams last words were "Jefferson still survives". Actually Jefferson had died several hours before Adams.

Tomorrow, the 14th of April, is the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. So drag out your wading pool, fill it with salt water, and drop in a chunk of ice. After you have your favorite icy blender drink in hand, drop in a cardboard cutout of Leonardo De Caprio. Enjoy.

What a great idea! Personally, I would substitute a Kate Winslet blowup doll instead of the De Caprio cardboard cutout. It's ideal for aquatic fun, she even floats. Just add the Celine Dion theme music and you're set for the weekend.

Why sacrifice a perfectly good blow up doll. Sacrifice something that is fairly useless...hi Leo. Back in those times Kate made fairly good flotation device all by herself. I understand that the 3D version has censored her nude scenes.

When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.
When the government fears the people, there is freedom.
T. Jefferson.
