SCOTUS overturned the stolen valor act,so now anyone can lie about their service, and it is just freedom of speech.

Sometimes freedom of speech is annoying but I don't have a problem with this because it does not allow fraudulent action only speech.

In an ideal world I would like to see it not legal--but I can't say it should be any more illegal than claiming to be a lawyer, doctor, movie director, or a banker. I'm sure no one on this board ever told such a fib to an impressionable young lady at a bar. As with all of those claiming to be one is just sleazy; trying to do the job of one is something quite different.

I get that. Anyone doing it is scum as far as I am concerned and I will use my freedom of speech to say so. However, making it criminal is a step too far. I do not trust the Congress to use that kind of power wisely.

Actually, it is a very reasonable opinion. Obama can lie about Obamacare, and have it upheld. Why can't everyone lie about everything? Truth is irrelevant.

It is only a lie if he continues to call it anything but a tax. Before the court ruled he could say that he felt it was a penalty justified by the commerce clause. He lost on that point and only won because they said it is a tax. Any claim by him otherwise would be a lie from this point on.

Strange Days
So the legal system has determined that profiting from a lie is not a crime, while, in another instance, a young Houston lady is arrested for telling the truth.

Ok, Ekim, I am a Veteran, to be specific, a Vietnam Veteran.
I do not fault the men who exagerate their service so much as I deplore the voters who would still vote for them, knowing they are dishonorable, and Liars. This is a great example. This fine fellow is now a US Senator, because many now put Party first, Country second.

And Hillary dodging bullets??!!. Don't forget, she was named for Sir Edmund Hillary, the first European to scale Mt Everest. She forgot that the feat happenned years after she was born.
