Question Favorite Phone Service and Cell Phone

Well my two year contract is almost up with ATT. I want to get a better phone. I was looking at the Samsung Galaxy III or iPhone 5 (in September). Suggestions? Advice? I'm kinda leaning towards Sprint because they do not have a cap on their internet and the deposit is low. Thank you!

Malaya.......I have been with Sprint and using a Samsung Galaxy II. I like the unlimited internet for one price. The large screen on the Galaxy is nice too. If you get sweat on the screen, the phone goes haywire and wil freeze up for a while. Using a screen saver film helps out some with the sweat problem. I can't use my phone after I go jogging because of the sweat problem, so just be careful after you have sweaty fun or excercise. Also the battery goes dead quick if you surf the web. Hope this info helps you.

Jed --- get juice defender -- it helps

I have the Galaxy Note -- I love the phone -- it rocks -- the SIII is bad ass too -- I am not a fan of sprint -- probably because of the whole thing that they suck in Louisiana when ya get off the interstate, I love my ATT -- been with em for years and dont have much trouble with em at all --- I would stay away from the iphone -- I had one for a while -- got rid of it for a android and havent looked back

Ting.

Ting is a MVNO that uses Sprint's network. Depending on usage, you can have a full featured smartphone starting at $6 / month.

The catch?

First, the phones are not subsidized by the carrier. However unsubsidized phone prices have been falling. A mid-range phone like the LG Optimus Elite can be had for $200, an "older" high-end phone like the Samsung Galaxy S II can be had for $430 or a current gen high-end phone like the Samsung Galaxy S III will set you back $530. Being unsubsidized, that means there are no ETFs. Wanna new phone? Wanna jump ship to a different carrier? Cool. No fees to do that and you can sell the phone to fund your techno-lust.

Second, you are only charged for what you use, so your bill will not be the same month to month, most likely. But that's a good thing. You don't sign up for a traditional plan locked in at XXX minutes, XXX texts and XXX data. You select a starting point for those items, and each month your bill will reflect your usage. If you go "over" on minutes, your minutes are bumped to the next tier. But if your texts are "under" you will be refunded the difference. It is very possible in that scenario that the overage and underage will "cancel" each other out. With moderate usage, I know several people keeping their monthly bill under $20 for a smartphone. Even with heavy usage, your bill will likely be less than you currently pay now. Ting has a savings calculator to help you understand the difference: https://ting.com/calculator

I have yet to hear a bad thing about customer service from them. Service usually starts with an email, but will transition to a phone call when necessary. And when you call, you always get a native English speaking person on the phone - I believe the call center is Canada. And billing questions / disputes seem to always end in the customer's favor with service credit. One person I know had the first two and a half months paid with service credits before he had to plunk down his own money. All because the phone he wanted was out of stock ($50 credit) and the Android update used data rather than WiFi (another $10 credit).

If you want to have additional phones on the plan, that's only an additional $6 per device. And you share the minutes, texts and data, with the same overage & underage bumps/refunds on single phone plans.

Though Ting only opened for business in February of this year, they are part of Tucows the internet company that's been around nearly 20 years. That means they won't be disappearing in the middle of the night anytime soon.

I agree with Jed Clampett relating to Sprint and right now - their unlimited services for one set price is really hard to beat....

I really like my HTC EVO 3D picture options and taking pictures of getting a blowjob and then watching it in 3D is awesome....

Sprint CS sucks. It takes forever to get some foreigner who barely speaks english! ATT works everywhere in the USA and has american CS.

Malaya ===> I have had the same Sprint account for years.....,

First off - I learned how to PROPERLY use my phone and the hands-on instructions by the Best Buy foks was excellent......

Secondly - as updates became available I was notified on the phone and managed the instrument thus keeping it current..

Thirdly - assistance has always been available at Best Buy because not only is that my service, but they like this particular model and like to play with it.....

Fourthly - foreigners ===> we are also a foreigner to someone!!

I have been with Verizon since before they were Verizon. Anyone remember PrimeCo? Their phones, service, Internet service, has been all I could want. They have great online tools and apps to manage your account. Their phone insurance is great. I love their mobile hotspot.

Couldn't be happier.

I've had all but Verizon. I'm currently with at&t and have a galaxy note (which is what I use for all my post). Love it a lot, especially when they released ics for it (too lazy to root my phone). I also had a 32 GB iPhone 4s that I recently sold (it was my back up phone, and wanted to sell while the market for it was still good...meaning before the iPhone 5 comes out). I had sprint for 10 years, and while they are unlimited, I ran into a lot of dead spots.

I'm with at&t and I'm sticking with them, but I have ran into some "Bob Jones," you know, the one for india! If you call after 6, that's when you would usually get people from India. Sprint cs is horrible, and T-Mobile was even worse.

I have been with Sprint for about 8 years and I still think it is the best deal possible. I do not believe in data caps or some of those charges that AT&T has. As a technology slut (those who know me can attest to that) i am always trying to get the best and brightest new phone.

Case in point I was at an Apple store the other day and saw the new MacBook Pro. The highest of high end models has the retina display, a 750 gig solid state hard drive (SSD are incredibly fast compared to a regular hard drive), plus 16 gigs of RAM. Yes, I said 16 gigs of RAM. I started to cry. I reached down for my wallet but my other hand slapped me and said it is time to GO.

Currently IMO the Samsung Galacxy SIII is the best phone on the market. The Iphone 4 or even 4S has fallen behind in the technology because of very limited hardware upgrades. The I-phone 4 is not much different hardware wise from the Iphone 3. Where as the Samsing SIII is an incredibly powerful phone, huge screen (could be a plus or minus depending on how you look at it), pictures are great to take, has 4G coverage.

There has not been a major hardware upgrade with Apple since maybe the Iphone 3. Whereas with Android and all the different phones the hardware is constantly evolving and upgrading. There is a case to be made though that without the I-Phone there would never have been these great Android phones on the market.

That being said we will see what new improvements the Iphone 5 has. Try comparing an Iphone 4 to a samsung siii. The iphone feels minature compared to it. Heard the I-Phone 5 will have a slightly bigger screen, a new design and 4g capabilities. Only time will tell.

Currently have sprint. Had Verizon.
Happy with Sprint. Had Evo and now have Samsung 2. Switched with no regret.

Happy with the Samsung 2 and can't wait to get the Samsung 3.

Good luck
