Default Time to move to Canada?

Canada has better, universal health care, doesn't stick its nose in every other country's business, and today their Supreme Court struck down the country's anti-prostitution laws as unconstitutional.

Maybe not as much as you think, Carpenter. Add your taxes and health insurance premiums together; then compare to taxes in Canada. But my original post was mainly tongue in cheek after hearing about the Supreme Court decision there.

Yes I realize that, and you have a good point.
But, I do have friends and business associates there, and we compare notes. Taxes at the gas pump being significantly higher is an example.

Some basic points.

1: You pay more in sales taxes here in KC than you do in many parts of Canada, the province of Alberta being a good example.

2: Most higher education is public, so you're not getting screwed up the ass when it comes to college costs like you do here.

3: Figure out what you pay in Health Care premiums and deductibles and that pretty much negates any tax differential for the majority of the population down here, unless you're a high income earner

4: While you pay higher costs on consumer goods, the average pay is higher. Let's take the min wage here in KC. It's 7.35. In Canada it's 9.95 to 11.00 depending on province or Territory. That reflects up the pay scale as well as I know that what I do here is payed on average in most larger markets 10k more than in KC.

5: Murder rate is negligble. There is no equivalent to the ghetto murder sprees that permeate most major metro's. Toronto averages 50-60 murders a year and is 3x the size of the KC metro.

There are good and bad in each locale..it depends on what you're looking for. I've lived in both and have a real perspective on each vs just speculation.

Get back on topic. I thought they already made 'bawdy houses' and 'security' legal. Did they change what's considered public?

EDIT: http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/cana...said-1.2471834

Okay, so that case finally got a ruling. Now we wait with fingers crossed for one year then book vacations to the great white north?

Very good response, Super. Quite often folks use myth to support beliefs. It's good to see someone support beliefs with facts.
