I believe there are multiple ways/programs to do this, but I use Microsoft PAINT, under the "Windows/Accessories" drop down. On my PC, I right click on the picture name, then "edit".

Click on the 'Resize' feature
Make sure the "Percentage" button is checked
Enter same number in both boxes (ex: 50 in each box will cut the picture size in half, 75 for 75% reduction, and so on)
Click "OK"
Click File-Save As, then I rename it to something else (to not destroy the original picture)

That's what I do! Hope it helps, surely others will chime in with other ways to do this.

If your images are on an iPhone, iPad you can use an image resize app from the Apple app store like Image Size, or just simply email them to yourself and choose a smaller size. ( usually the pixels numbers are reduced).

On android you can use an app from Google Play store like Photo & Picture Resizer

i did a quick websearch (searched for "online free image resizer").
out of the About 8,630,000 results, i checked out five different Web-based applications for resizing and more.

jut dont resize lil delites

----------------------------------------
for all websites, you upload the image from your computer, set the options, select to resize, then download the resized image to your computer. those websites will keep your image for some amount of time (30 mins to 1-2 days?).

i tested a large image: 5780x4448 pixels 5.1MB
i cropped 75% and saved using best quality jpg

website
options provided
resulting file size and dimensions.

if you wanna do this on your windows based pc, this is THE BEST AND EASIEST (in my image editing opinion) - but you have to be on your computer to use it.
when you cannot, then use one of the web based apps listed above.

Image Resizer Powertoy Clone for Windows
http://www.bricelam.net/ImageResizer/

download an installation file, then dbl click to install it on your pc.

After installing it, right-click on one or more selected picture files in Windows File Explorer, then select Resize pictures.

select/set the resize size, and voila!!
you can keep or overwrite the original.

Whichever of the above methods you use remember resize can mean two things. Reduce the size of the image or reduce the size of the file.

Cropping for example reduces the size of the image by removing portions from around the edges. So some of the image is lost. The height and width of the picture are reduced

Reducing the resolution keeps the content the same and the width and height the same while reducing the number of bytes required to store the image. The image might be less sharp.

There are trade offs for whichever method you use. Just be aware and make the trade offs you want.

If you know there is a size limit for your ads for future pictures when you take them adjust your camera settings. Most digitial cameras and phones have settings that can alter the way an image is initially stored so you are not taking pics that will not work for you as they are.

I use a program called irfanview

You can download it for free off the net.

You can resize one photo at a time or batch resize 1000 photos in a file at a time.
There are tutorials on YouTube that show you,how to do it

valen,
thx for the refresher about the difference between cropping an image and reducing the resolution!! (*)
but resizing is different.
all affect the image's file size.

cropping does not necessarily affect the resolution.
how one reduces or resizes probably affects the resolution.

i didnt think about these differences as i rarely need to crop photos. i do resize as needed for uploading.

thx again.

(*
cropping is kinda like cutting some activities out of an encounter.
reducing resolution is kinda like less enthusiasm by a provider in an encounter.
resizing is kinda like giving a shorter fuck (time wise) but keeping the same level of enthusiasm.
:^}

You can just use a pic hosting site like tinypic that will resize it for you automatically when you upload the pic.

Save you some time doing it manually. You have to have a pic host anyways.
