Thinking about this in terms of good tipping for legit services. For instance, if you have a meal at Olive Garden and the bill is $60 for two, do you add $40 tip? That is what this equates to, in other words if the service is good, but not the absolute best ever, I don't see how a 67% gratuity is acceptable. Based on that, the servers will start expecting more than 25% which is not reasonable compared to other pricing. IJS

I would tip 20, maybe 30 if the massage was really fantastic and we had good rapport.

The problem with the Olive Garden analogy is the waitress might be taking care of numerous other tables at the same time. A masseuse can only service on customer at a time. It is apples to oranges.

So at best during a meal a server is at your table 10 minutes of an hour. A massage if full engagement, and at most shops the girl is lucky to get 50% of the house fee and many work on tips alone. if it's a really good massage, is worth giving above average tip imho. Love the shops where you can get a real good massage, some teasing, and a decent HE, it's worth the $40-$60 tip. An average massage without HE, $10 tip is ok...

Okay, maybe the restaurant analogy wasn't the best comparison, I was just trying to compare a legit gratuity situation to another legit gratuity situation (obviously if u add HE it's not so legit).
And I have visited a LMT shop that is completely legit and they have actually a tipping chart displayed at their check out counter. Something along the lines of.. was the massage acceptable? 10-15% was the massage enjoyable? 20-25% was it the best ever? 25% +

Actually, I attended an Indy over the weekend and with no extras I tipped 33% to not look like a cheapskate..was on the verge of giving 25% so I understand sometimes the situation varies and it is a gut decision. But 67% tipping should only be given to those that provide HE otherwise that kinda tipping will encourage less HE for more $$ my 0.02 anyways..

Only person who has a say so in tip amount is the guy who’s doing the tipping. IMO, tipping only the standard $40 for a good hour massage and a good HJ is worth more than standard .4 tip, but that’s just me. This is in reference to a provider that actually gives a good thorough massage and for at least 45 minutes of the hour before starting the ending. Massage work is hard work, and we also expect her to allow our hands to freely roam.

You gentlemen would be shocked at how cheap some guys are when it comes to tipping, you ever see a provider chasing a guy out the front door demanding more tip, sometimes the girl don’t get a dime more than house fee, maybe a ten dollar bill, I reckon this group chiming in are the better tippers. Remember Victoria spa over on westheimer? I would visit a lovely late night, bring food and alcoholic drinks for them to enjoy as the night winds down, I sat with the girls in their private room, cameras in full view, the girls recognized customers buzzing to be let in, “here comes so and so” one would say, the providers knew who they were there for, I recall seeing them bring the money, house and tip to show the other girls before taking there cut, you’d be surprised how many guys didn’t tip, at all or gave lot less than standard. This shop has been closed for some time so don’t ask for intel.

My normal for spa/salon services is 1/3. I do this for haircuts, nails, legit massage, waxing. I was behind one woman at the nail salon who had $120 service with a $10 off coupon. She left $10 for a tip. That is a cheapskate. 8% on pre coupon price.
