Default Comprehensive Pamphlet on Decriminalization

Please download, peruse and share!

From www.worldaidscampaign.com:

Sex Work and the Law: the Case for Decriminalisation

Dialogue around the South Africa-based 2010 Soccer World Cup, proposals to introduce a moratorium on the harassment of sex workers by the South African Police Force, and the continued criminalisation of sex workers and their clients in South Africa sparked the production of this work. It outlines several key issues, considerations, challenges and recommendations for policy-makers, NGOs, sex workers and other actors in the fields of HIV and human rights, to help build a supportive and enabling environment for sex workers to realise their rights. The World AIDS Campaign would like to thank the Sex Worker Education and Advocacy Taskforce (SWEAT), the New Zealand Prostitutes Collective (NZPC) and Marlise Richter in particular for their time, effort, support and input into these factsheets.

Great article that hits the nail on the head on this issue. Probably won't pass it around at HEB but I will raise the issue as I have before within my circle of friends. If we can affect the opinions of those around us then I think we can eventually change society's perceptions.

H-E-B, started in kerrville, texas circa 190something, moved headquarters to Corpus Christi..then about 30 years ago to san antonio...predatory grocery store chain who will and has run out every other grocery chain trying to enter the south texas and expanding market....only wal mart superstores seemingly can compete...

Rumor has it that HEB and Tom Thumb (another Texas-based grocery) have a "gentleman's" agreement that Tom thumb will not put stores in South Texas (HEB territory) while HEB won't do so in North Texas (Tom Thumb territory).

Geez! Now this forum has degenerated into a grocery store info area. How much for a case of pussy?

Ohhh you gave me a flashback to my childhood when we lived in Texas for a few years and shopped there! Good times. Funny, I had a ton of fliers for the Sex Worker Sunday film fest at our wonderful Erotic Heritage Museum to raise money for Desiree Alliance (organization as a whole, not just the conference), so I kept putting them up on the Whole Foods bulletin board. Perhaps I'll do the same with this?

Exactly! I have brought the topic up during discussions with friends, acquaintances, alumni groups, my aestheticians...etc... and I can tell you that I have without a doubt changed the views of others by sharing little random tidbits, "planting seeds" and engaging in heated discussions. This is all part of activism and I'm so thankful that y'all are speaking up!

Isn't that what the ECCIE Showcase is? Just a grocery store shopping area where you compare the product and the prices? The only thing ECCIE doesn't have is a tag that tells you how much you're paying per oz. But I guess they figure your math skills are at least that good.

We've compared providers to cars...we've had discussions about value...etc.

How about we compare them to grocery items?

WTF, you go first.
