Get a Roku player, and stream away baby. You can stream all night long with some hidden porn channels too. Just get the codes off line, and you are set to go.
Not to mention the best channels are Amazon, Netflix and Hulu.
I ditched cable and dvd players years ago. Best decision I ever made. The only thing worth spending any real money on is fast internet.

I actually had the chrome box and then switched to roku 3. I liked the chrome box better just because I could surf online as well. I did like the roku because it did have a few channels that I really like. I wish netflix would expand their menu and I love hulu.
I do still watch dvds just because when I'm in the car I can pop one in when I'm on the road. I do redbox also but not much simply because I'm not good at returning dvds on time and that can get costly.
I'm like you, I got rid of cable years ago and I just buy the best internet available thru Time Warner but may switch to Google Fiber because like you stated it's the best decision anyone can make.
