Any ad that does not have a phone number to call is trying to sell you a dating service or some other product. These ads are pretty common and you learn to overlook them. I've gotten so I can tell from the titles and don't even bother to open them.

A tech that works for BP could look up the IP number, as most bulletin board systems log IPs. However an IP number itself is fairly useless, as a Telco will not divulge physical address, unless a badge asks. And IPs can be spoofed or randomized if you use services that do that. Of course the BP tech would have the account setup data and method of payment. However, that is also fairly useless as all that can be set up anon using a prepaid card. So all in all, only thing that can be done is account close, and BP will not do that unless there's a major prob.

Yes embedded virus are quite common, and not necessarily pictures. However it's also fairly easy to protect from.
Most, if not all, server environments, that host pics/links/etc have decent security software, or "firewalls" (that includes virus and all sorts of stuff preventer), that prevents stuff that you mention from occurring. And by the way, attempting to pass a virus or otherwise damage someone's computer has become a criminal statue in most states. There was a nice discussion on that on the national board several months ago with some IT guys and attys kicking that around. Last, a server system tech usually has great authority to terminate anyone's access due to the inherent danger of this stuff. And it's becoming common for preventive software to terminate access without the tech and this has become common in major corporate systems.

But your question does get me up on a soap box wherein folks should have a decent "internet" type of virus or other stuff preventive protection on their computers. There's a reason freebie stuff is free. And for programs with free trial periods, once the 30 days is up, the software doesn't do squat. A couple Texas board members had that exact issue a week or two ago. As an example, the anti-everything software I use logs at least a few things a day as it snuffs crap. But that's over multiple machines so perhaps not a comparable to your usage.

I am not IT. Since a few days ago every time I boot up I get a message that my Windows OS is not genuine.
B/S.
Of course I no longer have the number so I'll probably have to buy one from MicroSoft.

That can happen after a major hardware swapout, or a software install or upgrade conflict. It can also happen with Malware. Probably need a tech to deal with it as you don't have the original code. It is possible for the old key to still be buried in the registry and looked up, but where depends on machine/win version etc.
