Ms. Liz,

He hexed the South! He should get a pay raise, don't you think?!

My friend left Albany after a decade there, got a job in Raleigh, NC, and was having a ball during the winters. Going to beaches, petting pelicans [yes, southern pelicans apparently fly to you and allow this!], 55-60F weather each weekend, walking in parks, the whole 9 yards.

Further south, it stays light longer too; blame their silly muscadine wine. Makes the sun and the world go round in whacky ways, especially when of the scuppernong sort, c/o Duplin Wineries. Perhaps we should bring some up here and see if OUR days start to lengthen sooner? Head to head test against Finger Lakes pinot noirs and rieslings?

Would that be a good draw for the Ithaca Tourism folks? Ithaca wines vs. the muscadines, to see if the spring can be made to be sprung sooner and warmer? And ECCIE Upset be made the official hosts and mascot!

Well, we shall have to organize a Trisha Fest, or better yet, a Trisha Week, in Ithaca, those Ten Square Miles Surrounded By Reality!

			greenie,

I haven't seen you post in quite a while 'til about a week ago. Maybe I just missed relatively recent posts.

Anyway; glad to see you taking part again.

Thank you, Sir. Your friendship is deeply appreciated, more than you will know.

I like the name 'greenie', it sort of describes an alien, quite like me, in fact. Do you remember a TV series that had a very limited run; about these aliens that looked like humans, settling down next door next to a normal household, except sometimes their skin would come off? I forget the name of that show, which I really liked!

And thank you, also.

I tried to Google the above to no avail. Can't quite figure out how to word the search querry. What year, more or less, did this short-lived show premier?

If anyone can solve this TV mystery, please post.

I am sorry I am vague about the year, early 80s? I became such a TV junkie when I first came to this country in 78 that I decided to quit cold turkey one day!

Sanford & Son, Lambchops, Mr. Rogers, Mr. Kotter, Reading Rainbow, Partridge Family, all were grist for my mill, from 4pm to 8pm! Mr. Rogers used to drive me nuts, so I have no idea why I watched him every day. His feeding the fish used to drive me even nuttier; I guess the fish were out of it all!

Those were the days when "America was held Hostage" by Iran, if people still remember, and Honda was just a funny face peeping from a window, saying "Hoonda", in a squeaky voice! Price-Pfister Pfaucets anyone? In this connection, one of my professors made a wonderful joke that I cherish: a lady in class asked him a question about "Pee-terodactyls"; he replied, "Ma'am, the P is silent, as in swimming!"

How things have changed! We even get sushi in Citgo gas stations in Ithaca now!! In those days, you had to go to Oriental groceries to buy fresh ginger! What I choose to forget is 40 years is almost 2 generations, give or take! Oh well.

Celso, my friend,

Now that is an area where we must disagree!!

Did you not visit Times Square c.78-82, Bridgeport, and all the seedy CT towns in THOSE good ole days? Whoa! Nothing remains of THAT sushi! Fish tales that will go untold, more's the pity.

Pure LongYiland Blue Fish fresh from the Sound, if you get my meaning, and so much more!!!

It is all Haute Cuisine now, friend, crap at high, high, high prices!!! Zero, nada, zilch. Yes, white rice sushi all rolled up, cold, in plastic, that certainly, but oh, for the good old days. There was scarcely a VCR, or none most knew of! Jacqueline Lorians [absolute perfection!], Megan Leigh, anyone even remember those names today? I will not incriminate myself further.

Did visit Times Square frequently c.70-72, along with the Village, Broadway and China town, when it was a wide open wild & crazy place. Preferred The City to Philly of any place in Jersey save Seaside Heights where we used to rent a summer cottage. Those were the days my friend....
