Default Baltimore, Looters & Bad Backs

I read an article online today that outlined the physical maladies of Freddie Gray as little as 10 days prior to his arrest. I'm still trying to figure this one out.

The article outlined that Freddie Gray could have prevented his own death by not getting into a high speed chase with police. This is one of those "if you weren't breaking the law in the first place" defenses. Sure, and if Lincoln could've skipped the play that night... I mean yeah, he put himself in a precarious position. Maybe he should've been more careful nursing a recent back and neck surgery. The article's main point was that since he had prior injuries to the neck, the police aren't as responsible for Gray's death as they would've been otherwise. Maybe he would've just been seriously injured!

I think despite the prior injuries Freddie Gray had, this is how this is going to shake out: were the arrest techniques used on Freddie Gray enough to cause serious injury to Freddie Gray? Could his death have been prevented? And was there malice in the arrest.

The rioters and protesters are two different people, I'd like to think. Some people just look for a reason to steal stuff, but I applaud the protests. I think the police should be called to the carpet when someone in police custody dies, especially if it's an injury or death from being arrested. Let a jury decide if the prior neck injury was really to blame, or how much of it played a part. I'm very curious about Baltimore right now.

Mainly I'd like to see shop owners on top of their roofs with rifles defending their businesses like the Korean shop owners in the 92' LA riots!

I agree..even with prior injuries, if he was just placed in the wagon he would not have aggravated the injuries. Just to many of these issues, to keep looking the other way...but as I tell my wife...fuck the rioters they are pieces of shit that wants to steal

Just saw on the news there was another guy in the paddy wagon with Gray. He said it seemed like Gray was trying to hurt himself, inflict pain on himself...?...hmmmm. The reporter didn't elaborate.

Of course not, how can they milk that into more coverage?
There is also the mention of prior injury and surgery that was initially "misreported". The later correction was quickly and quietly given then re-reported again multiple times with vague qualifiers to keep the fires burning. So quietly in fact that the OP posted this thread days after those initial claims were already dismissed.

In 1969 college students across the country in protest of the viet nam war staged a "sit out" of classes and without any violence or looting-- they were gunned down by the national guard killing many innocent kids. (Kent State) But now we let animals loot and steal and destroy our cities and cause racial tension thru out of country without any punishment. Just think if all the white people in America would have acted the same way when OJ Simpson was let free when everyone and anyone with brain matter knew he was guilty. When will this all stop?

As long as you have people who get away with looting with no consequences it will never stop.

Armed shop owners protecting private property...YEP!
What about ending all government subsidies to those convicted of rioting or looting?

What about ending all government subsidies, period. If you are at work, you can't be on the streets rioting and looting.

Prior injuries, self infected injuries...the truth will be denied.

I would bet everything I have that the stats show that the percentage of death after being arrested is the no higher for AA than any other race.

On to better things.....

Looters need to be summarily executed

Gotta love the mom who slapped the shit out of her son, who was told to come home after school but went to the protest sites anyway, dressed like a ninja warrior...Beautiful. Best news story of the year. May have been the best thing ever to happen to that kid.

Amen to that.

Also - Kudos to the guy dancing to Michael Jackson's "Beat it" in the midst of the riots.

Whoever that man is, I love him!

You mean to shoot them on sight and/or on the spot, right?

When I grew up, that was expected. Looting was cause for getting shot on sight. Just like getting shot in the back if you ran from the cops and refused to stop.

And who remembers the 7-11 shotgun squads? That put a quick stop to the robberies.

We've gotten soft and too sympathetic to criminal's rights. They should have none.

Like what Michael Slager did to Walter Scott?

Armed robberies, correct? The deadly force is justified to protect the lives of the store clerk(s) and the customer(s) alike. Agreed?
