Burner phone?

I was wondering how many hobbyist use a different phone for the hobby? I just got contacted first via text by a reputable provider whom i won't mention and it floored me that she did that. I've had several close calls in the past with other providers but they weren't eccie verified providers. I thought the standard operating procedure for providers was to never make initial contact unless they've been cleared to do so. Luckily i was at work when i got the text! Really thinking about getting a burner.

Let me ask the obvious question, how did a provider get your number in order to text you?

She must have still had it in her phone from the last time I contacted her. I certainly didn't give it to her and say "call me or text me". I didn't even contact her on eccie first. It was out of the blue when she texted.

I don't usually text out of the blue out of respect. I try to PM if I see them online unless I have permission to text.
As for a burner phone, possibly use google voice which you can shut off when you want or need. Or there are plenty of disposable phones that are inexpensive or even prepaid.

Thanks Tammie. In my already mentioned close calls they all have one thing in common that I just realized. All were out of town providers visiting.

Did you give her the impression she should let you know when she came back into town? Or have you text her or called her since your last visit with her to ask if she was in town? Probably there is a reason she felt ok to contact you.

Definately google voice is a good option. Or even text free, pinger, text plus

Even if they are visiting ladies, they need to have respect and PM first, not text if they are visiting.
When I am visiting or coming back home I prefer to PM the guys and if they are able they will either PM or text me back.

Wild12 get a second phone like a Tracphone....for hobbying....never use you real world phone.....then toss the Tracphone every once in a while.....they have gotten pretty cheap.

i have some clients i can text or call anytime, some have burner phones and some dont. the clients i can contact "out of the blue" or when im available have already sat down with me during an info session and we have agreed days/times i can make contact first. especially because i tend to "disappear" from the boards & have to be discreet/utr because of relationship purposes. And i tend to not post for incall unless ive already rented a room to see some whove requested incall visits, and its usually during that time i contact my clients who by this time not only know my hobby number, but my actual number and already know me by my real name.....
but if you're getting a hobby phone
just get a lil prepaid phone that isnt a smart phone. its easier to hide a phone that just takes calls and texts and of course, turn it off when youre with your s.o. or leave it somewhere safe especially if you have a "snooping" s.o.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate all of your inputs. I talked to the provider in question in more detail and she apologized profusely. She said she contacted everyone that had seen her in my area that saw her recently and realized that wasn't a good idea after she done it. She said she was half asleep when she did it but who knows. Google voice is an option also. It's pretty handy.
