Default For you devout Catholics, or anyone else, What did you give up for lent?
For the Catholic crowd out there today is the beginning of lent and today is Ash Wedensday the start of the ritual of giving up something in your life in reverance to God.

So what did you abstain from doing for the next 6 weeks or so?

I will follow the guidelines for fast and abstinence and give up the one thing I like best..............sigh......a long 40 days, OK I know it is hypocritical and a double standard but it is what it is.

I gave up being a Catholic so that I don't have to give up anything else. Seemed like I traded up and haven't regretted it since.

It's funny, one side of my family is Catholic and the other side is Protestant. It makes for some lively Holiday get-togethers

While I'm Buddhist I still observe Lent and this year I'm giving up sleeping in. I'm using the extra hours in my day for meditation and reflection.

I saw a client yesterday who has been trying to see me for months, he "had" to get the appointment in yesterday because he was giving up sex for Lent. And for the record, he went out with a bang, bang, bang. I finally had to call "mercy". LOL
