West TX tour in the spring? Lubbock, EP, maybe even Odessa and Abilene?

I am curious if the springtime is a good time to visit West TX, my schedule should allow for a short week during March, April, or May.

I am planning to visit Lubbock and EP and I want to be sure that the timing is right to make plenty of new friends and have lots of fun times. I may even stop by Odessa and Abilene.

Any thoughts? Any local event or yearly cycles in those regions that make one month more desirable over another?

I think as close to summer as you could do it would be good. You'll obviously be very hot & sweaty, but in a good way.

I had no idea there were places where summer was actually a good season for hobbying ;-)
