IS THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE SO IMPORTANT
In their infinite wisdom, the founders of our country created a structure called the "Electoral College" as a control system and to ensure the individual states were fairly represented. Otherwise one or two densely populated areas would speak for the whole of the nation. It was not created as a device to favor Democrats, Republicans, Whigs, Tories or any other political affiliation. It was created as a system of "checks and balances" to guard against any small vocal area, with a specific agenda, speaking for the whole of the nation.
The following list of statistics should put an end to the argument as to why the Electoral College makes sense.
There are 3,141 counties in the United States.
Trump won 3,084 of them.
Clinton won 57.
There are 62 counties in New York State.
Trump won 46 of them.
Clinton won 16.
Clinton won the popular vote by approx. 1.5 million votes.
In the 5 counties that encompass NYC (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Richmond & Queens) Clinton received well over 2 million more votes than Trump.
In other words, these Five (5) counties alone, more than accounted for Clinton winning the popular vote for the entire country !
These 5 counties comprise 319 square miles.
The United States is comprised of 3,797,000 square miles.
When you have a country that encompasses almost 4 million square miles of territory, it would be ludicrous to even suggest that the vote of those who inhabit a mere 319 square miles should dictate the outcome of a national election.
Large, densely populated cities (NYC, Chicago, LA, etc.) do not and should not speak for the rest of our country...and somehow the geniuses who founded our country understood this and created a system to avoid that circumstance.
And now you understand the supreme importance of the Electoral College.

Unfortunately, it's not just the morons in here ...
.. but the morons they are generating in their imaginary college classes.
Who leave class and burn libraries so they won't have to read.

All the fake news channels love to remind us how HilLIARy beat Trump by 3 million votes ..... but those are not the only numbers about the race that left so many democrats stunned and disoriented .....for example, HilLIARy won California by 4.2 million votes, and she won New York by 1.6 million votes, meaning that in 48 of the 50 states, Trump's margin of victory was about 3 million votes, and when you subtract his losses in New York, Trump STILL was the popular vote winner by more than 1 million votes ..... "The Electoral College was set up to assure that a handful of population centers across the country cannot in perpetuity control the presidency." ..... that was well illustrated by the 2016 results, where Trump won an overwhelming majority of middle America, swing states, and many electoral-heavy states, yet still came up short in the popular vote because of the results of essentially one state, California ..... the Electoral College addresses that issue because the minimum number of states a candidate must win - those with the largest number of electoral votes assigned to them because of highest populations - to win the presidency is 12 ..... 12!! ..... 12 out of 50 is NOT a majority! Technically a candidate would only have to (campaign in and) win New York, California< Texas, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, and any other state with 10 or more electoral votes, such as Michigan or Virginia. And screw the voters in those other 38 states ..... so as the 1st paragraph in loveitdou's post so eloquently states (and something every one of StandinInShit's students should have to memorize and recite daily) the Electoral College was set up by our founding fathers who were smart men wise beyond their years ..... they foresaw EXACTLY what kind of problems could arise if voting for a president was simply a popularity contest, that each state neede an equal say because after all it's the states that elect our president, NOT the individual voters, and they correctly addressed any issues that could arise by setting up the Electoral College system ..... you'd better pray that for the sake of America it never gets destroyed or abolished .....

Yessir, that has actually happened 5 times in our history: in 1824 John Quincy Adams by 44,000 votes to Andrew Jackson; in 1876 Rutherford B Hayes lost by 264,000 votes to Samuel J Tilden; and in 1888 Benjamin Harrison lost by 95,000 votes to Grover Cleveland ..... so technically a precedent has been set and the Libturds should just accept it, sit down, and shut up .....

It's not just the states. You don't need Illinois when you have Chicago. Or Florida when Miami and Tampa are yours. Get the right 20 cities and the Oval is yours.

Whatever it is that doesn't fit their agenda AT THE MOMENT ...
...they consider wrong and want to throw out the system unless it works for them!
Anarchist, Nazis, Racist, Socialist Cry-Babbies is all they are.
They are afraid of books, statues, and now trees in California!!!!
I believe they actually want NK to lob a nuclear warhead over here so they can "start over"! They can't get Trump out of the White House, they can't have socialized medicine, and they can't take up everyone's firearms ....
so they want to destroy this country like a bunch of immature brats ...
... throwing a tantrum!

The electoral college actually creates a uneven playing field in that not everyone’s vote carries the same weight. Why should it matter where you live, 1 vote should be 1 vote. Trump lost this past election as over 3 million more people voting for Hillary Clinton, she was the people’s choice. Trump did not win but was awarded the presidency because the electoral college discounted votes for Hillary Clinton, that cannot be described as a equal playing field in any manner.

.... more proof you're an idiot who doesn't teach "chit"!
What creats an "uneven playing field" is to not know "chit" about what's going on out in the country, depending on FBI agents to manipulate the elections with fake information, buying demonstrators and media pundits, and staying drunk every day believing you are going to be "anointed" PRESIDENT!
Not to mention looking like this!
Trying to ride in on one's husband's coat tails is not considered to be an "Independent New Age Liberal Female" especially after you accuse your opponent of being a predator when you previously trashed your Predator-Husband's accusers and called your opponents supporters a basket of DEPLORABLES!
The list of excuses grows,
............... but are "we" now recycling to the Electoral College?
Excuses:
1. Comey and the FBI
2. Electoral College
3. Russian Collusion
4. Born outside of the United States
5. Wife posed naked one time
6. Bad hair
7. Tweets too much
8. Fucks his son's wife
9. Doesn't produce his tax returns
10. Wife doesn't like him
11. Criminal
12. Crazy
13. Wants WWIII
14. Doesn't know what he's doing.
15. His staff is revolting
16. 20-30 years ago allegedly grabbed a girl's pussy
17. Electoral college.
18. ______________________________ _ End of the first year!
I can already hear her cries for leniency.

Repeal the 17th and restore the right of appointing Senators back to the State legislation.
Senators are representatives of the individual States not the people. Representatives are the people's representatives.

I want "the people" to vote for both houses of Congress.
If you've spent some time listening to the floor "discussions" regarding major decisions they have to make in the Texas legislature you don't have to go to any comedy clubs or watch any episodes of Saturday Nigh Live ...
.. and I suspect many state legislatures are similar in comic relief.

Quit beating around the bush. Large metropolitan (urban) areas are permiated with slugs who vote for a living.
The Electorial College protects the rest of the Country from the leeches and vultures who are the gullible Minions of the Demagogue.
