Since last i checked, Merkle and 99% of germans have crawled on the bellies to apologize for what the Nazi's did, but the TURKS STILL REFUSE to even acknowledge the genocide the Ottoman empire perpetrated (or tried to) on jews and christians), WHO the hell does he think he is, calling Merkel a nazi!

Erdogan has been trying to bring back Fundamentalism. I've got a couple of friends (female tour guides) - one in Istanbul and one in Bodrum. They're both more westernized. Both married. They're trying to make the best of it.

I don't know about Nazis, but the Ottoman empire ceased to exist in its current form after 1917.
perhaps you were thinking of Ataturk regime of Turkey. many turks served in the Nazi army and also in Kaiser's army as well.
