Default Question please, are things back to normal in Dallas after covid?

I used to visit Dallas weekly before covid and it was a paradise. Covid shutdown every place I went to and some never returned. I was wondering if places like the Amps are the same again or is that gone for good? I hope this is the correct forum to ask this question. I do not live there so I am not up to date on what all goes on. Since I am not there I cannot post reviews to get special access to the secrets.

Dallas recovered from covid years ago. Regarding amps, Leo shut down all of them. Only thing left are the subamps and a lot of them are under pressure to close as well.

Recovered from Covid? Yes. Recovered from the legal onslaught directed at the hobby on a federal, state and local level that began in 2018? No.

Not sure about the hobby and COVID. To me that’s back to normal. But lots of folks are working remote. Probably permanently. And commercial rests, especially the middle aged low end rents are lower. Class A office space is still thriving, but in the tiers below that it’s a buyer’s market.

In some submarkets Class A office is doing well, but submarkets negatively affected by WFH (like downtown Dallas, or Houston’s energy corridor) vacancies are still very high.

I agree with TTH, though, that WFH has definitely changed the hobby by making it difficult for guys to get away to play. That was precipitated by Covid, so that part of the OP’s question I suppose can be answered “no”, and likely will continue to be the case…perhaps forever, perhaps only until we see a Great Recession-like decline in employment that allows employers to finally have the upper hand in forcing office-workers back to the office on a full-time basis.

Thanks for the update everyone. 100% of everything in my life that has brought me happiness is gone. If I never liked amps they would be better than ever. I travel the country and perhaps I may not know the secrets but I never seen any other straightforward amps in other cities that provide the same quality as Dallas before Covid. Some may have a woman or two that go above and beyond but it's not like a guaranteed deal like back in the day

Sad to hear that. For me, the changes have allowed more balance in my life and my need for hobby visits has dwindled. I’m increasingly becoming more of an observer than a participant, although I do find the need to scratch that itch every once in awhile lol.

For your safety and peace of mind, I recommend scheduling in advance and coming to my quiet apartment for the full Massage experience :-)

Ah thanks, I didn't know providers still had profiles here since the last time I was active they were being removed.

Do you think most employers want to go back to staff in the office full time? I disliked the idea if employees working from home initially, but found I liked it. And we really saw no decline in productivity. I still go in nearly every work day (we’re on a four day work week most if the time), but staff is in roughly half the time absent special circumstances. They like it and so do I.

I like the hybrid work schedule that I have, which makes it a pleasure to get in the office and see people I work with face to face.

It’s that in-person interaction that has a lot of CEOs on record saying they dislike WFH and want to force employees back in the office. Lots of articles on the subject.

The problem is a lot of businesses gave up space the last four years. They have to have a place to put people if they bring them back. I think they will try and squeeze them into cowork environments, which means a lot of folks who had their own office before now have to settle for a work station. It is one thing to force people back into the office, but outside of a recessionary environment people won’t put up with being packed like sardines for very long.

Yeah, I think those that are knee jerk rejecting hybrid work are missing the boat.

If rush hour traffic can be eliminated I wish everyone worked from home. I have always been self employed so it doesn't matter to me.

Yeah, but getting back to the topic at hand, for all the good I have gotten out of no longer fighting the commute (I think my BP and sleep patterns are much improved), the freedom of movement I enjoyed during my hobby heyday is pretty much gone.

At this stage of my life, though, I’ll take the tradeoff.
