Default Early US assessment suggests strikes on Iran did not destroy nuclear sites, CNN reports

Trump and his team reported that Iran's nuclear program was totally obliterated. In fact, Trump branded the strike as having "Totally Obliterated" the program when he first announced the surprise attack.

Maybe not so much.

Summary

Strikes likely only delayed Iran's nuclear program by months, CNN reports

Iran's enriched uranium stockpile remains intact, CNN's sources say

White House dismisses CNN report as incorrect and leaked top secret ***IF THAT'S THE CASE, THEN WHAT SECRET WAS LEAKED? LEAVITT IS NOT VERY BRIGHT, IS SHE?***

WASHINGTON, June 24 (Reuters) - An early intelligence assessment indicated that the U.S. military strikes on three of Iran's nuclear facilities last weekend did not destroy the core components of Tehran's nuclear program and likely only set it back by months, CNN reported on Tuesday, citing three people briefed on it.

After days of deliberation, U.S. forces struck Iran's three main nuclear sites on Saturday. President Donald Trump said Iran's key nuclear enrichment facilities had been completely and "totally obliterated," an assertion he has since repeated.

While over a dozen bombs were dropped on two of the nuclear facilities, the Fordow Fuel Enrichment plant and the Natanz Enrichment Complex, they did not fully eliminate the sites' centrifuges and highly enriched uranium, CNN reported, citing people familiar with the early assessment.

Citing two people familiar with the assessment, CNN reported that Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium had not been destroyed.
It said the assessment was produced by the Defense Intelligence Agency - Pentagon's intelligence arm - and is based on a battle damage assessment conducted by the U.S. Central Command after the U.S. strikes.

The report by the Defense Intelligence Agency estimated that the program was delayed less than six months, the New York Times said in another report.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed the CNN report in a social media post.

"This alleged "assessment" is flat-out wrong and was classified as "top secret" but was still leaked to CNN," Leavitt said on X.

Obliterate did not actually mean total destruction. Trump’s meaning of obliterate was delayed Iran for maybe 6 months.

depends on who you ask. Petraeus says years. so is the head of the IAEC. so now we see the usual suspects (CNN) leaking intel that they can't disclose the source and they just expect everyone (who doesn't like Temp) to believe it.

CNN has no credibility. they are as bad as The Atlantic for making up shit and hiding behind "unnamed intel officials"

nonsense bullshit

Pretty funny to say all that about credibility...

Cuz the reason people are so skeptical that this mission succeeded in the first place is cuz TRUMP has no credibility! Lies and exaggerates all the time. And has every reason to do so here.

Bringin up this nonsense again about the Atlantic ain't lookin so good for your credibility either...

If they keep telling lies about the success of the mission, President Trump just might give them another dose. He said as much in his speech just after the raid.

This is typical gaslighting and lying by the entire Trump Hating crowd.

I choose to believe the military and President.

Iran doesn't have a nuclear program. If they did Israel would be a sand pit .

Lying and gaslighting is the modus operandi of Trump and his entire administration.

There is good reason to react skeptically to anything he says.

Well, the White House admitted that the report says what it says but the push back that the assessment is correct. Seems like CNN’s reporting is correct. Just that the White House doesn’t like what’s being said.

Trump and his entire administration have ZERO credibility. In nearly every situation they have been shown to lie and obfuscate rather than tell the truth. Part of that is likely their level of incompetence more than pure dishonesty.

Now Trump is claiming that he got the total obliteration language from Israel rather that his own intelligence. More lies of course but typical Trump.

Yeah. He only lies when he speaks or types. Other than he’s honest.

The only useful thing out of all this discussion is whether Iran and its nuclear program is only set back
3 to 6 months.

If correct, then Trump will have to bomb again in 3 to 6 months. Should he ?

And 14 bunker buster bombs were used this time. How much does each one cost ?

Around 20MM each, but we'd need to factor in the operating costs of the B2's and all the support also to get to the real cost. Not to mention, no real evidence of success. Unless you want to buy into a blathering idiot's delusions.

Trump said yesterday (6/24/25) that the USA would not bomb Iran again. This was after he called Bengy N. to have their planes turn around and return to Israel to preserve the peace fire.

I would be surprised if any of the centrifuges are in working order. It is totally possible that some of the enriched Uranium was moved, so Iran may still have some at 60% concentration. Doubt if they will be doing any enrichment to 90% for a while (1-2) years. If will take at least a year just to get the electricity turned back on.

Trumps statement was predicated on the Iranians agreeing to dismantle their nuclear weapons enrichment program
I believe he still stands by his policy of Iran not having a nuclear bomb.

In the mean time, Iran is probably hoping that CNN would just shut the fuck up.
