Columbia University to pay $200M in settlement with Trump administration
Story by Aaron Katersky • 2h • 1 min read
Columbia University has agreed to pay $200 million over the next three years to resolve claims it discriminated against Jewish students and to restore hundreds of millions of dollars in federal grants.
"While Columbia does not admit to wrongdoing with this resolution agreement, the institution's leaders have recognized, repeatedly, that Jewish students and faculty have experienced painful, unacceptable incidents, and that reform was and is needed," the university said in a statement.
Columbia also agreed to submit to a federal monitor that will assure compliance with admissions and hiring practices and provide certain information about foreign students to immigration authorities.

Columbia doesn't have a Harvard sized bloated wallet so unlike Harvard, they can't simply tell Trump to "fuck off" like they should have. Makes good business sense to just pay over three years (the remaining length of the MAGA retarded reality TV show until it is officially cancelled) and get federal funding money back than to piss off Trump and have him withhold not only your federal funding (billions during his term) but also mess with your foreign students out of spite.

As part of the agreement, Columbia will pay a $200 million settlement to the federal government over three years, and $21 million to settle investigations involving the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. I recognize these are substantial settlements. As Acting President, together with our Board of Trustees, we had to look at all the facts. We have seen not only $400 million in federal grants frozen, but also the majority of our $1.3 billion a year in federal funding placed on hold. The prospect of that continuing indefinitely, along with the potential loss of top scientists, would jeopardize our status as a world-leading research institution.
Furthermore, as I have discussed on many occasions with our community, we carefully explored all options open to us. We might have achieved short-term litigation victories, but not without incurring deeper long-term damage—the likely loss of future federal funding, the possibility of losing accreditation, and the potential revocation of visa status of thousands of international students.

Two years ago, the MAGA cult would be crying about the first Amendment.
Now, they’re champions of Wokeness?
Sure, if there’s a buck in it!
Go figure.

The support for anti-Semitism and misogyny won't be tolerated by the feds anymore. THAT'S the reality here, no matter how much whining and crying comes from the left.

It's ironic how the left rails against "discrimination" but when the people being discriminated against aren't part of their leftwing narrative...they have no use for them. It just shows how bankrupt their ideology is. As I said before liberalism is a gutless chose. They will come back one this thread and deflect with more of their nonsense...in order avoid the TOPIC of not rewarding antisemitic behavior. With their posts where they don't address the blatant discrimination of Jewish people...their deflection is comical!!

Michael Roth, president of Wesleyan University, said it is like paying the ransom to get your kidnapped child back on Thursday night's PBS News Hour.

You know, Columbia coulda got their antisemitism from Trump for a lot less than $200mm. He’s butt hurt Barron didn’t get in.
This is extortion, and the hallmark of the Jabba the Hutt regime.
Notice how Trumpf goes up against schools that his kids didn’t get into? Has he attacked Ole Miss? How about Central Oklahoma? Or Liberty, for Chrissakes?

I see no one on the left condemns the civil rights violations of this school. It's the gumment duty to punish civil rights violators...this left-wing talking point about it being extortion is comical. Thinking people see right through this idiotic thinking.

What civil rights violations?
If so, then why aren’t they being tried in court?
Are you just making up words here?
