It’s Been A Banner Week In America

A lot has happened in America this week, and most of it hasn’t been good. I’m not here to preach—I’m not good at it and I’m not qualified. I’m not telling anyone what to think or feel.

What I am saying is this: it’s Friday afternoon, the weekend is here, and the world isn’t going to burn down before Monday. So, for my own sake—not anyone else’s—I’m going fishing. I won’t be thinking about anything but the fish, the lures, and the open space around me.

Yes, this was a rough week. The news media confirms it was a banner week for the people who would see the world burn. Multiple tragedies unfolded, and yesterday we remembered another historic one. Acknowledge it, feel what you need to feel—and then refuse to carry the weight of the world into the weekend. Live in the moment for two days.

Let’s take these two days to live in the moment and focus only on what’s right in front of us. The world’s problems will still be there Monday morning. We can get back to saving it then.
