Wel obel DID invent a way to stable;izae Nitroglycerin and make it a useful explosive. Then he realized its potential in warfare and thought it would make future wars unthinkable. . . somewhat like the Atomic Bomb did after WW-II.

When It became obvious that wars continued to happen, now with his explosive making it worse, out of guilt (I think) he established the Peace Prise
