You just don't understand how politics work Captain. You're not supposed to give a damn about whether a war is in the best interests of the United States of America. Instead you support it if your party's leaders say you should, and vice versa. Logic, reason and good judgement have no place in modern American politics. Instead it's dog-eat-dog tribalism.
Remember how Kamala Harris and Joe Biden said they weren't going to get the COVID vaccine, because Trump's Operating Warp Speed brought it to market? Well, something similar is going on now. So Hillary Clinton and our eminent board member and hawk Blackman don't support U.S. actions against Iran.
The Republicans are even harder to explain. There are some exceptions like Rand Paul, Thomas Massie, and Joe Kent. But many have gone from hawks to isolationists and back to hawks since 2016. That's a lot of hoop jumping or mental gymnastics or whatever you want to call it. The warmongers who never jumped through the first hoop must be pleased. Lindsey Graham's sitting pretty again!
I agree. American leaders shouldn't prioritize Israeli interests over the USA's.

I am not so sure that it’s that simple. At this stage of the conflict everyone is invested in the outcome. Support should be a given for almost every single person in the United States. The reality is not that democrats and republicans don’t want to see friendly regime changes in Iran it’s that they are super pissed by the fact that the Trump Administration and the Netanyahu administration have screwed it up so badly. Trump pulled us into this conflict without an inciting incident and with what appears to be delusional wishful thinking. All without any support from our allies and without regard for the global economy.
If Trump had taken the time to get buy-in from congress or our international partners at least then there would be some one else to blame.
