Any F1 followers in here? I was surprised to not see any thread on this topic. What do you guys think of the new regs so far?

Awful. Slowing down to charge your battery bust raving. Superclipping isn’t racing. I’ve seen more pass/repass in three races this year than I saw in the previous 41 years.

Its good and bad at the same time! Good as there is more driver skill involved too and not just dependent on rocketships. One of the main reasons you can see Verstappen struggling and the likes of Hamilton/Leclair/Piastri doing better. Mercs and Ferrari still are doing better mostly coz of the car, but the drivers need to be skillful too to manage the batteries.

They should remove that overtake button. Same like the DRS button from the previous times. Go back to before 2011. At least one good thing from this to previous season is that Overtake button is negated by the Boost button which is a good thing. And the drivers don't know when the overtake will happen. with DRS, you knew when it was coming and the other guy didn't have anything to fight it. At least now, the boost helps.

I've only been watching F! consistently for the last three years
I like that they are reducing the overall footprint of the vehicles, but dislike the 50:50 PU split
Trying to brand itself as being carbon neutral is counterintuitive to the spirit of the sport.... "the pinnacle of motorsport, combining cutting-edge engineering, extreme human performance, & high-stakes strategic competition"

Smaller and lighter cars are good. The rest, not so much. They need to go smoker still so maybe we can see some racing in Monaco again.

I’m a fairly new watcher as well. This will be my first season to follow along. So I don’t have any reference and don’t really have a strong opinion on the yo yo racing that everyone’s been bashing. How were the other regulation change years. Were they met with frustration among drivers/teams and eventually people just sucked it up?

I’m excited for the Miami race though
