Rioting for What?
Young people in Syria, Egypt, and other countries are risking their lives and rallying for basic human rights.
The "Occupy XXX" movement in the U.S. started out with some valid grievances, but has deteriorated into an amorphous "free speech" movement with muddled objectives.
Now finally, the youths of this country have found something worth fighting for - Air Jordans!
Give me a break.

You know Jack, they pushed through the NDAA which says you can lock up any U.S. citizen indefinitely, and TSA training documents are showing that protesting is considered "low level terrorism". They passed that bill and they've now provided funding to activate prisons that are on military bases capable of detaining millions of people. Big business and mainly the banks are putting through any legislation they want, and it's bankrupting this country while devaluing our dollar. I would say free speech is certainly worth fighting for, and I know plenty of people who have woken up to what is going on after seeing how citizens who participated in the Occupy movement have been beaten up, locked up, and had their property torn to shreds and discarded. I think it's awesome that people are willing to protest and their voices combined are certainly waking up a lot of people. Freedom of speech is AWESOME, and I'm glad someone finds it has some value.

NYGman, I share your concern about our loss of civil liberties since 9/11. In this respect, the terrorists have won already. As for the protesters, unfortunately only one issue matters to most people in the coming election: "It's the economy, stupid!"

It's all one gigantic issue. The banks and the big business that are bankrupting the economy are also pushing politicians to push legislation for these prisons and work camps. I don't know if they're evil or stupid or what, but they're destroying everything. Obama put half of Wall Street on his staff and Gingrich will be worse. You probably already know who I'm voting for, but what really pisses me off is there isn't a single canidate worth voting for beside him.

Who would want the job of being prez. If your on one side you get slammed on TV. The other side slammed on the radio. Both party's get slammed on the radio. Then you have states that let you vote in any primary. The whole system needs lots of cleaning. Republicans leaders are more like Democrats. So there is a war within the Republican party as the party no longer represent its members.

The quandry is that its hard or impossible to reverse a mentality that seems to be leading to pacs of people just acting like that in the videos. We seem to have a nation that close to 50% feel they are now entitled to whatever they want and its ok to take it from others in any means..Cant really re-learn people to do the right thing.

I agree, people take what they want, and think tough shit for everyone else. People are acting like animals these days. The Nike mess around the country, the woman spraying everyone else on black friday to get them away from what she wanted. The savage woman who punched a 70 year old Walmart greeter in the face because she wanted to see her receipt on the way out......People used to work their asses off in this country, and now they want everything handed to them, and now they want the rich to crack open their wallets and support their lazy ass life styles.

If they are so concerned about money maybe they should be at work instead of camping in city Parks...
