LOL you may be right- they perhaps never left the cvil rights movement either, but serious what elected official actually sends an email with an innuendo of a prayer to the death of another man- very distasteful hopefully the Secret service is looking into this matter.

But honestly it's not like Bush wasn't talked trashed about, I just think people blow it out of proportion because he is a person of color. Wishing death on anyone is wrong, but I doubt this is the first president it's happened to.

Noticed I didn't make this a Dem vs Republican issue it's wrong no matter who is doing- if this was a Dem praying for the death of a Republican is equally sickening- so I B posting something that happened to Bush is apples and oranges and the big factor that you are missing- most of Bush hate comes from Bush pro war stance(Iraq Invasion)- go back in history and look at any President that was pro war and majority of Americans viewed the Iraq War as an unnecessary war- so that alone made Bush very unpopular but he too did not deserve death threats.

What I don't get is why these people get so flustered with a president that they would want them dead and buried. Wish for impeachment, wish for a scandalous resignation, but why death?

Exclamation Brutal

I knew politics was a brutal game, but there are certain rules you must follow before you get kicked out for unsportsmanlike conduct.

I wonder what these lame clowns will try next?

. . . Maybe sticking pins in a voodoo doll?

Totally agree- I didn't like Bush but heck it wasn't to the point where I was praying for his death all I could do is cast my vote on election day- it amazes me how so many people got all crazy over Obama- even on this board- hey if you don't like hi that's fine- just on 11-6-2012 don't vote for him- it's that simple.
However, if you are one of the few on here who wants to call him names and tell how horrible he is- I say to you- run for office and see if you can do a better job. I laugh at people who follow the Glenn Becks, Rush, and Hannity of the world- those guys want to say how bad Obama is and how things should be done- well if Hannity and Rush are so smart and care so much about the country why don't they run for President??? They certainly have the name following and money to run for office, but they rather make millions sitting on their asses and criticizing a job they don't have and never will.
I can sit back and say the CEO of ACME corporation is doing a horrible job- but I am not in the business world and not a CEO so all I can do is blow hot air. People like I BHankering and Iaintlian, and Whirlway really crack me up- the POTUS is by far one of the most stressful jobs- could either of you do better??? If so quit your day job and run for office- IMHO criticizing Obama or anyone that is in position you never held is like someone claiming to be an expert in swimming but never been in the water.

Oh, but you did. You put Obama's name in the title and wrote this:

By 'the president' you mean 'this president'.

You are correct when you say it shouldn’t happen to any president, but that doesn’t negate the fact that it did happen to Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley and JFK. They all died. They were victims of someone else's social agenda. Reagan was also shot, and FDR and Ford were nearly assassinated.

Again point out where I said this would never happened to a Republican President- if this was happening on Bush's watch I would say the same thing- you have never heard me say anything to the affect that Dems are angels and will never do anything this disgusting- if you don't believe me several months ago I had a thread stating that protesters in Wisconsin were going too far by having signs that had a noose around the Republican Governor's neck- some had crosshairs- of all that is equally wrong. So perhaps Rick Santorum can learn a lesson from me when something is wrong it's flat out wrong- remember the Gay solidier who was being booed while Santorum was speaking during a debate and Santorum "claimed" he didn't hear the boos???? This is the same Santorum who claimed he said "blah" people instead of "black" people- I actually have given up- I search wiki- Britannica and still can't find a race of people called "blah" people if you know where they live I B I would sure like to read up on the history of "Blah" people.

I B just to show that I call a spade a spade here's a thread where I call out Liberals for using disgusting rhetoric and signs against Wisconsin governor: http://eee.eccie.net/showthread.php?t=180304

I don't think President Obama is being treated worse than any other President. That being said, this was probably the most stupid thing the Speaker could have done. I hope the Secret Service has a nice long talk with him. If he doesn't resign, he should be voted out at the next opportunity. Totally not funny, and totally uncalled for.

By writing 'if', you indicate you are still missing the point. It did happen to Bush. It's happened to many, if not most, U.S. presidents. You persist in believing Obama is being treated worse than any previous president. That is simply not true. LBJ, Nixon, Lincoln and Garfield were treated very badly while in office. Lincoln and Garfield died because of aroused, partisan animosity. McKinley was killed because he had wealth. JFK was killed because of his stance against communism.

I B you are badly missing the picture John Hinckly Jr and Oswald were not elected officials. No one can control what a crazed wacko will do to any President. I am almost certain every President has had death threats- but it's a whole new ball game when you have ELECTED officials praying for the Death of the POTUS.
Can you name an elected Representative that has sent any type of innuendo of death or harm to a President?????
